Align your credentials to banking specialty occupations
Valley Bank's H-1B filings skew toward roles requiring a degree directly tied to the job function. Use O*NET to confirm your occupation's degree requirement aligns with your field of study before applying, since a mismatch is a common RFE trigger in financial services.
Target technology and risk teams first
Within banking and financial services, H-1B sponsorship is most common in IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, quantitative risk, and compliance roles. Focus your Valley Bank job search on these departments, where the specialty occupation standard is clearest and internal sponsorship approval is most routine.
Verify prevailing wage before negotiating your offer
Valley Bank must pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your role and location before filing your LCA. Run your job title and metro area through the OFLC Wage Search before salary negotiations so you're not caught off guard by a wage floor that affects your offer.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before accepting an offer
Valley Bank participates in E-Verify, which is required for H-1B employers. Confirm this enrollment status during the offer stage, not after. An employer not enrolled in E-Verify cannot legally employ you on H-1B, so verifying it early prevents wasted time on both sides.
Use Migrate Mate to track Valley Bank's LCA filing history
Before applying, pull Valley Bank's Labor Condition Application filing history on Migrate Mate. You'll see which job titles have been sponsored, what wage levels were certified, and which office locations have active filings, so you can target the right role and location from the start.
Start the USCIS filing timeline conversation at the offer stage
H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed for an October 1 start date, and registration opens in March. If you're not already on H-1B status, ask Valley Bank's HR team during the offer process how they handle cap timing so you can plan your transition without a status gap.
Valley Bank H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Valley Bank sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Valley Bank sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying roles in banking and financial services. Sponsorship is most concentrated in technology, quantitative finance, risk management, and compliance functions, where the specialty occupation standard is straightforward to satisfy. You'll need a job offer in a role that requires a directly related bachelor's degree or higher.
Which roles and departments at Valley Bank typically receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Valley Bank is most common in roles like software engineer, data analyst, financial analyst, risk analyst, and compliance officer. These positions align clearly with the USCIS specialty occupation definition because they require a specific degree field. General banking or retail branch roles are less likely to qualify for H-1B.
How do I find out if a specific Valley Bank role qualifies for H-1B sponsorship?
Check the job description for a minimum degree requirement tied to a specific field of study. Then cross-reference the job title using O*NET to confirm it falls under a recognized specialty occupation. Migrate Mate also surfaces Valley Bank's historical LCA filings by job title, so you can see which roles have been sponsored before.
How do I prepare for the H-1B filing process after receiving an offer from Valley Bank?
Once you have an offer, Valley Bank's HR or legal team will file a Labor Condition Application with DOL and then submit Form I-129 to USCIS. Your role is to provide educational credentials, employment history, and a copy of your degree. If you're outside the U.S., consular processing will follow USCIS approval. USCIS provides detailed guidance on required documentation.
How long does the H-1B process take at Valley Bank?
Timeline depends on where you are in the process. The DOL certifies the LCA within seven business days. USCIS standard processing for the I-129 petition currently runs several months, though premium processing can reduce adjudication to around 15 business days. Cap-subject applicants must also account for the annual lottery, which limits new H-1B starts to October 1 each year.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Valley Bank?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
