Align your coursework with nuclear engineering requirements
Holtec's internship work centers on nuclear systems, heat transfer, and pressure vessel design. Coursework in mechanical or nuclear engineering, finite element analysis, or ASME code standards strengthens your application and signals you can contribute from day one.
Start CPT authorization before your semester internship begins
If you're on an F-1 visa, CPT must be authorized by your DSO before your first day. Holtec's internships often align with academic semesters, so coordinate with your international student office at least four to six weeks in advance to avoid gaps.
Target Holtec's campus recruiting and co-op pipelines directly
Holtec recruits heavily from engineering programs with strong nuclear or mechanical concentrations. Check whether your university has a direct recruiting relationship with Holtec and apply through those channels, where sponsorship conversations happen earlier in the process.
Search verified sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Engineering Intern roles at Holtec International by visa type, so you're only applying to openings where sponsorship is confirmed. This cuts time spent chasing roles that won't support your status.
Clarify OPT timing relative to your graduation date
If you're planning to convert from an internship into a full-time role, your OPT start date must align with your graduation. Misaligning these by even a few weeks can create an unauthorized employment gap. Confirm your timeline with your DSO before accepting any offer.
Understand how USCIS defines specialty occupation for your role
For H-1B sponsorship after your internship, Holtec must demonstrate your role requires a specific bachelor's degree. Engineering intern titles that involve general tasks rather than specialized technical work can complicate this. Ensure your offer letter reflects the technical scope of your actual duties.

Find Engineering Intern at Holtec International JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Holtec International sponsor H-1B visas for Engineering Interns?
Yes, Holtec International has a documented history of sponsoring H-1B visas for engineering roles. For internship positions specifically, sponsorship typically applies to the post-internship full-time conversion rather than the internship itself. F-1 students in Engineering Intern roles are most commonly supported through CPT during the internship and OPT as a bridge to H-1B filing.
How do I apply for Engineering Intern jobs at Holtec International?
Applications go through Holtec's careers portal, where Engineering Intern openings are listed by location and discipline. You can also find and filter these roles by visa sponsorship type on Migrate Mate, which surfaces only positions where sponsorship is confirmed. Holtec also recruits through university partnerships, so checking with your campus career center is worthwhile if your school has an engineering focus.
Which visa types are commonly used for Engineering Intern roles at Holtec International?
F-1 CPT is the most common authorization for current students in Engineering Intern roles at Holtec. F-1 OPT applies for post-graduation internships or as a bridge to full-time employment. Holtec has also sponsored H-1B and employment-based Green Card petitions (EB-2 and EB-3) for candidates who convert from internships into permanent engineering positions, and TN status is available for qualified Canadian and Mexican nationals.
What qualifications are expected for Engineering Intern roles at Holtec International?
Holtec's Engineering Intern roles typically require active enrollment in a mechanical, nuclear, or chemical engineering program. Familiarity with CAD tools, heat transfer principles, or pressure vessel standards is a practical advantage given Holtec's core work in nuclear energy and thermal systems. Internships tied to specific projects may also require eligibility for security clearance or access to controlled technical data, which affects non-U.S. citizen applicants.
How do I plan my visa timeline for an Engineering Intern position at Holtec International?
For CPT, your DSO must authorize work before your start date, which typically takes two to four weeks. For OPT, USCIS recommends applying up to 90 days before your program end date, and processing can take several months. If you're targeting H-1B sponsorship after your internship, the annual cap registration window opens in March for an October 1 start, so plan your internship-to-full-time conversion timeline around that deadline.
