Align your credentials with nuclear engineering standards
Holtec's engineering work centers on nuclear systems, pressure vessels, and thermal analysis. If your degree or experience is in mechanical, nuclear, or structural engineering, document how it maps directly to ASME codes and nuclear safety standards before you apply.
Target roles that match your OPT timeline
F-1 OPT gives you 12 months of work authorization, with a 24-month STEM extension if your degree qualifies. Engineering roles at Holtec typically fall under STEM-eligible fields, so confirm your program's classification with your DSO before accepting an offer.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Holtec's open engineering roles
Holtec posts engineering positions across multiple specializations and locations. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for roles at Holtec that are open to visa sponsorship, so you're not manually sorting through listings that won't lead anywhere.
Prepare for a multi-stage H-1B sponsorship conversation
H-1B sponsorship at an engineering firm involves DOL Labor Condition Application approval before USCIS filing. Ask your recruiter early whether Holtec files in the standard cap cycle each April or uses cap-exempt pathways for specific project staffing needs.
Position your experience around Holtec's project pipeline
Holtec is actively developing SMR-160 small modular reactor projects alongside its decommissioning and dry cask storage work. Framing your background around relevant project types, not just job titles, strengthens your case for a role that justifies EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship later.
Clarify Green Card sponsorship expectations before signing
Holtec sponsors both EB-2 and EB-3 categories, but PERM labor certification timelines vary by role and priority date. Before accepting an offer, confirm whether your position is earmarked for immigrant visa sponsorship and at what point in your tenure that process typically begins.

Find Engineering at Holtec International JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Holtec International sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, Holtec International sponsors H-1B visas for engineering roles. The company operates in a specialized technical space, nuclear energy and related infrastructure, where international engineering talent is central to its workforce. Sponsorship typically requires a qualifying specialty occupation with a directly related degree, and your employer files the petition with USCIS after securing a certified Labor Condition Application from the DOL.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at Holtec International?
You can apply directly through Holtec's careers portal or find their visa-sponsoring engineering openings on Migrate Mate, which filters for roles open to international candidates. Tailor your application to the specific engineering discipline listed, whether that's mechanical, nuclear, structural, or electrical, and address relevant technical standards like ASME or nuclear safety frameworks where applicable.
Which visa types does Holtec International commonly use for Engineering roles?
Holtec sponsors engineering candidates across several visa categories, including H-1B for specialty occupation workers, F-1 OPT and CPT for students in STEM-eligible programs, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering fields, and EB-2 and EB-3 for permanent residence. The right pathway depends on your nationality, degree level, and where you are in your career.
What qualifications does Holtec International expect for Engineering candidates?
Holtec's engineering work is technically demanding, typically requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline such as mechanical, nuclear, civil, or electrical engineering. Familiarity with ASME codes, finite element analysis, or nuclear regulatory frameworks gives candidates a meaningful edge. For H-1B eligibility specifically, your degree must be in a field directly related to the role's duties.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for an Engineering role at Holtec?
Timeline varies by visa type. H-1B standard processing runs several months, with USCIS adjudication following the April cap filing window and an October 1 start date. Premium processing cuts USCIS review to 15 business days, though the DOL LCA step still precedes it. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card paths through PERM can take one to several years depending on your country of birth and priority date backlog.
