Align Your Coursework With Nuclear Systems Work
Holtec's internship projects often involve pressure vessel design, thermal analysis, and radiation shielding. Coursework in heat transfer, structural mechanics, or nuclear engineering strengthens your application and signals you can contribute from day one.
Target Holtec Roles Through Migrate Mate
Holtec posts Mechanical Engineering Intern openings across multiple sites and disciplines. Use Migrate Mate to filter for roles that explicitly support visa sponsorship, so you're not spending time on positions that don't fit your authorization needs.
Prepare for ASME and Design Code Questions
Holtec's engineering work is governed by ASME codes, particularly for pressure equipment and nuclear components. Reviewing ASME Section III basics before interviews shows technical readiness that distinguishes international candidates competing against domestic applicants.
Understand That TN Status Requires Canadian or Mexican Citizenship
Holtec sponsors TN visas, but eligibility is limited to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles. If you hold citizenship from either country, confirm the role meets DOL's TN engineer classification before accepting an offer contingent on that status.

Find Mechanical Engineering Intern at Holtec International JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Holtec International sponsor H-1B visas for Mechanical Engineering Interns?
Yes, Holtec International has a track record of sponsoring H-1B visas, including for engineering roles that begin as internships and convert to full-time positions. Sponsorship for intern roles typically depends on the position being structured as a long-term hire pathway rather than a short-term placement, so clarifying the role's full-time conversion potential early in the process is important.
How do I apply for Mechanical Engineering Intern jobs at Holtec International?
Applications for Mechanical Engineering Intern roles at Holtec International are submitted through their careers portal. You can also use Migrate Mate to browse current openings filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility, which helps you confirm a role supports your specific authorization before applying. Tailoring your resume to Holtec's nuclear and industrial engineering focus improves your chances of moving to an interview.
Which visa types does Holtec International commonly use for Mechanical Engineering Intern roles?
Holtec International sponsors F-1 CPT and OPT for active students and recent graduates, H-1B for candidates transitioning to full-time employment, and TN status for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering classifications. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship is also available, though those pathways apply to permanent positions rather than internships directly.
What qualifications does Holtec International expect from Mechanical Engineering Intern candidates?
Holtec typically looks for candidates enrolled in or recently graduated from a mechanical, nuclear, or structural engineering program. Familiarity with finite element analysis tools, CAD software, and ASME codes is commonly referenced in their postings. Roles tied to nuclear storage or reactor systems may require U.S. persons status or the ability to obtain facility access clearance, so reviewing individual job requirements carefully before applying is essential.
How do I time my application to align with Holtec's sponsorship and hiring process?
Holtec's internship recruiting typically runs on a semester or annual cycle, but H-1B petitions for post-graduation roles must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start under the annual cap. If you're on F-1 OPT and targeting a full-time conversion, confirm Holtec's intent to file well before your OPT expiration to preserve cap-gap protection under USCIS rules.
