Align your coursework with Holtec's technical stack
Holtec's engineering software work often touches simulation, CAD integration, and data systems tied to nuclear plant operations. Highlight relevant coursework in systems programming, scientific computing, or database management to show your skills map directly to their project needs.
Target Holtec's campus recruiting pipeline early
Holtec's internship hiring for engineering roles often runs through university partnerships, particularly at schools with strong nuclear or mechanical engineering programs. Connecting with their recruiting team at career fairs gives you an edge over applicants who apply cold through job boards.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Holtec's open Software Engineer Intern roles
Holtec posts internship openings across multiple locations and project teams. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Software Engineer Intern positions at Holtec that match your visa type, so you're targeting roles where sponsorship is already confirmed.
Ask about H-1B cap-gap coverage during your offer stage
If you're transitioning from OPT to H-1B after your internship converts to full-time, cap-gap protects your work authorization between OPT expiration and H-1B start. Confirm with Holtec's HR team that your offer letter timing accounts for this window before you sign.
Understand that TN status requires a specific job category match
Canadian and Mexican nationals pursuing TN status for a software internship must show the role fits a qualifying USMCA occupation category, typically computer systems analyst. Get the exact job title and duties from Holtec's offer letter before preparing your TN documentation.

Find Software Engineer Intern at Holtec International JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Holtec International sponsor H-1B visas for Software Engineer Interns?
Yes, Holtec International sponsors H-1B visas, including for engineering roles that begin as internships and transition to full-time positions. Internship roles themselves are typically covered under F-1 OPT or CPT while you're still a student. If your internship leads to a full-time offer, Holtec has a track record of supporting H-1B petitions through the annual lottery process for eligible candidates.
How do I apply for Software Engineer Intern jobs at Holtec International?
You can apply through Holtec's careers portal or through Migrate Mate, which lists Holtec's open Software Engineer Intern roles filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility. Holtec recruits heavily through university partnerships, so checking whether your school has an existing relationship with them can give your application stronger traction than a direct portal submission.
Which visa types are commonly used for Software Engineer Intern roles at Holtec International?
F-1 CPT and F-1 OPT are the most common pathways for Software Engineer Intern roles at Holtec, covering international students during and immediately after their degree programs. TN status is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals whose role qualifies under USMCA occupational categories. For longer-term transitions after an internship, Holtec also supports H-1B petitions and employment-based Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 and EB-3 categories.
What qualifications does Holtec International expect for Software Engineer Intern candidates?
Holtec's Software Engineer Intern roles typically expect active enrollment in a computer science, software engineering, or related technical degree program. Given the company's focus on nuclear energy and industrial systems, experience or coursework in simulation software, data analysis, or systems integration is particularly relevant. Familiarity with languages like Python, C++, or Java and exposure to engineering workflows will strengthen your application significantly.
How does the visa sponsorship timeline work for a Software Engineer Intern role at Holtec?
For F-1 CPT, your university must authorize the internship before your start date, which can take two to four weeks. F-1 OPT authorization from USCIS takes up to 90 days, so apply as early as your program allows. If your internship converts to a full-time role and Holtec files an H-1B petition, the annual cap lottery opens each March for an October 1 start date, so plan your graduation and employment timeline around that window.
