Align Your Academic Field With Holtec's Work
Holtec recruits interns primarily from nuclear, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering programs. Before applying, confirm your degree field maps directly to the posted role so your F-1 CPT or OPT authorization aligns cleanly with the position's specialty occupation framing.
Activate CPT Before Your Start Date
CPT authorization must be approved by your Designated School Official before you begin work. Coordinate with your university's international student office early, because processing can take two to four weeks and Holtec's internship start dates are fixed.
Flag Your OPT Timeline During Interviews
If you're targeting a post-graduation conversion, tell your recruiter exactly when your OPT period begins. Holtec's internship program has fed into full-time H-1B sponsorship pipelines, so demonstrating timeline clarity signals you've planned the transition, not just the internship.
Target Holtec's Campus Recruitment Cycles
Holtec recruits heavily through university partnerships with engineering schools. Apply during fall career fairs for spring and summer cohorts. Late applicants often miss the structured intake windows, so browsing open intern postings on Migrate Mate early gives you a real lead-time advantage.
Verify Holtec's E-Verify Enrollment Before Accepting
STEM OPT extensions require your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify. Confirm Holtec's active enrollment through the DOL's public E-Verify employer search before signing an offer, so your STEM extension application to USCIS isn't delayed after you've already started.

Find Intern at Holtec International JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Holtec International sponsor H-1B visas for Interns?
Holtec International does sponsor H-1B visas, though sponsorship at the intern stage typically applies to students transitioning into full-time roles after graduation. Interns on F-1 CPT or OPT often use those authorizations during the internship itself, with H-1B sponsorship initiated once a return offer is extended and the cap registration window opens.
How do I apply for Intern jobs at Holtec International?
Applications go through Holtec's careers portal, where intern postings are listed by location and engineering discipline. Many roles are tied to specific university recruitment cycles, so applying early in the fall semester increases your chances for summer placements. Migrate Mate aggregates Holtec's open intern listings in one place, which makes it easier to track new postings without checking the company site repeatedly.
Which visa types are commonly used for Intern roles at Holtec International?
F-1 CPT is the most common authorization for active students interning at Holtec, as it allows paid work directly tied to your degree program. Post-graduation interns or those converting to full-time use F-1 OPT, including STEM OPT extensions of up to 24 months. TN status can apply for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering classifications, and H-1B sponsorship becomes relevant for full-time conversion after the internship.
What qualifications are expected for Intern positions at Holtec International?
Most intern roles at Holtec require enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program in nuclear, mechanical, civil, or electrical engineering. Coursework in heat transfer, structural analysis, or energy systems is valued given Holtec's focus on nuclear plant components and spent fuel storage. Some roles also look for exposure to CAD tools or finite element analysis software, so highlighting relevant coursework and lab experience in your application is important.
How do I time my visa paperwork if I receive an intern offer from Holtec International?
If you're on F-1 CPT, your Designated School Official must authorize CPT before your first day, which typically takes two to four weeks. Submit your request to your international student office as soon as you have a written offer letter and confirmed start date from Holtec. For OPT, USCIS recommends filing your I-765 up to 90 days before your program end date, so plan accordingly to avoid a gap between graduation and your authorized start.
