Tailor your portfolio to higher education marketing
Indiana University's marketing teams prioritize brand storytelling, student recruitment campaigns, and institutional positioning. Showcasing work tied to enrollment, audience segmentation, or mission-driven campaigns signals immediate fit and reduces friction in the sponsorship conversation.
Identify roles posted through IU's central HR system
Indiana University posts sponsored positions through its official careers portal under specific departments like University Marketing Communications. Roles tied to a centralized department are more likely to carry established sponsorship workflows than positions in smaller college-level units.
Confirm specialty occupation framing before applying
USCIS requires H-1B roles to qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. For marketing roles, ensure your degree aligns closely with the position's core duties, not just a general business background, before the offer stage.
Ask about PERM timelines during offer negotiation
If you're targeting long-term stability, ask Indiana University's HR team early whether the role is structured to support PERM-based Green Card sponsorship. Public university employers in the EB-2 or EB-3 categories must complete DOL's labor certification process, which can take one to two years.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open marketing roles by sponsorship
Searching broadly misses roles where sponsorship is already confirmed. Use Migrate Mate to filter Indiana University's open marketing positions specifically by visa type so you're only applying where H-1B or employment-based sponsorship is already on the table.
Prepare your credentials for specialty occupation documentation
Indiana University's international hiring process often requires a detailed credential evaluation for degrees from outside the U.S. Have your transcripts assessed by a NACES-member evaluation service before receiving an offer, so the I-129 filing isn't delayed waiting on third-party documentation.

Find Marketing at Indiana University JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Indiana University sponsor H-1B visas for Marketing roles?
Yes, Indiana University sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Marketing positions, particularly in professional staff roles tied to university-wide functions like University Marketing Communications. Sponsorship is more common in roles with clearly defined specialty occupation requirements, meaning the position must require a specific bachelor's degree or higher as a baseline qualification rather than a general degree in any field.
How do I apply for Marketing jobs at Indiana University?
Applications go through Indiana University's official jobs portal at jobs.iu.edu. Filter by department or keyword to find Marketing-specific postings. Once you identify a role, your application will be reviewed by both the hiring department and HR. If you want to browse only positions where visa sponsorship is confirmed upfront, Migrate Mate lets you filter Indiana University's open roles by sponsorship type before you apply.
Which visa types does Indiana University typically use for Marketing hires?
Indiana University most commonly uses the H-1B visa for professional Marketing staff, given its flexibility for specialty occupation roles. For candidates seeking permanent residence, the university has supported EB-2 and EB-3 pathways through PERM labor certification. The right pathway depends on your current status, degree field, and the specific role's classification, so confirming this with the hiring department before or during the offer process is important.
What qualifications does Indiana University expect for sponsored Marketing roles?
Most sponsored Marketing roles at Indiana University require a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a closely related field. Senior or specialized positions may expect graduate-level education or demonstrated experience in areas like digital strategy, content management systems, or enrollment marketing specific to higher education. Your degree field needs to align with the job duties to satisfy USCIS specialty occupation standards under the H-1B category.
How do I navigate the visa filing timeline after receiving a Marketing job offer from Indiana University?
Once you receive an offer, Indiana University's HR and international services office will manage the H-1B petition process, including filing the Labor Condition Application with DOL before submitting the I-129 to USCIS. Standard processing takes three to six months without premium processing. If your current status has limited runway, confirm the expected filing dates immediately after the offer is extended so there's no gap in your work authorization.
