Align Your Credentials to KBR's Project Work
KBR's mechanical engineering roles often support complex industrial and manufacturing projects. Tailor your resume to highlight pressure systems, piping, or equipment design experience, since those are the technical areas that appear most consistently across KBR's open postings.
Pursue PE Licensure Before Applying
Many of KBR's senior mechanical engineering roles list Professional Engineer licensure as preferred or required. Starting the PE process before you apply signals long-term commitment and removes a potential flag during USCIS adjudication of your petition.
Target Roles That Match EB-2 or EB-3 Eligibility
KBR has sponsored both EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card categories for engineers. If your degree is in mechanical engineering and your role requires a bachelor's degree minimum, you likely fit the EB-3 pathway. A master's degree or exceptional ability opens the EB-2 route.
Understand the PERM Labor Certification Timeline
Green Card sponsorship through KBR starts with PERM, where DOL verifies no qualified U.S. workers are available for your role. This process takes several months before USCIS even sees your I-140. Factor this into your planning if your current status has limited runway.
Browse KBR's Open Roles on Migrate Mate
KBR posts mechanical engineering positions across multiple business units. Use Migrate Mate to filter KBR's current openings by role type and sponsorship history so you're applying to positions with a realistic path to visa support, not just any open requisition.
Clarify Sponsorship in the Offer Stage
Once you receive an offer, ask HR directly whether the role is approved for visa sponsorship and which category they intend to file. KBR's immigration process typically involves in-house coordination, so getting written confirmation early prevents delays after you've already accepted.

Does KBR sponsor H-1B visas for Mechanical Engineers?
KBR's sponsorship activity for Mechanical Engineers is primarily through employment-based Green Card categories rather than H-1B. If you're already in H-1B status with another employer, a transfer to KBR is possible, but candidates should confirm with KBR's HR team whether the specific role supports H-1B sponsorship, as this can vary by business unit and project.
Which visa types does KBR commonly sponsor for Mechanical Engineers?
KBR has sponsored Mechanical Engineers through EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa categories, which are employment-based Green Card pathways. EB-3 suits candidates with a bachelor's degree in a directly related field, while EB-2 applies to those with advanced degrees or documented exceptional ability. H-2A sponsorship has also appeared in KBR's filing history, though that category is typically used for temporary agricultural and project-based labor.
What qualifications and experience does KBR expect for Mechanical Engineer roles?
KBR's Mechanical Engineer postings in the manufacturing sector typically require a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and hands-on experience with industrial systems, pressure vessels, or piping design. Familiarity with CAD platforms and adherence to ASME or similar standards is common. Senior roles often expect Professional Engineer licensure, and project management exposure is increasingly listed as a preferred qualification.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Mechanical Engineer at KBR?
For Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3, the process begins with PERM labor certification at DOL, which can take six months to a year before KBR files your I-140 with USCIS. Total timelines vary significantly based on your country of birth and visa bulletin priority dates. Engineers born in India face the longest waits due to per-country backlogs. Starting early in the offer process is essential.
How do I apply for Mechanical Engineer jobs at KBR?
You can find and apply for Mechanical Engineer roles at KBR directly through KBR's careers portal. To filter specifically for positions where KBR has a history of visa sponsorship, use Migrate Mate, which aggregates KBR's open roles alongside sponsorship track record data. When applying, match your resume language to the technical requirements listed, particularly around manufacturing processes, systems engineering, or project delivery depending on the specific posting.
