Target KPMG's Campus Recruiting Calendar Early
KPMG fills most Tax Intern roles through fall on-campus recruiting, often locking in offers 12-plus months before the start date. Missing this window means competing for fewer off-cycle spots, so connect with your campus recruiting team before September.
Clarify Your OPT Timeline Before Applying
KPMG's intern-to-full-time conversion often hinges on your remaining OPT and whether you're STEM-eligible. Know exactly how many months of work authorization you'll have at your internship start date, since this directly affects how quickly they'd need to file.
Signal Tax Specialization in Your Application Materials
KPMG's Tax practice recruits separately from Audit and Advisory. Tailor your resume and cover letter toward specific service lines like Federal Tax or State and Local Tax, referencing coursework in corporate taxation, partnership structures, or indirect tax to stand out from generalist applicants.
Understand How H-1B Timing Affects Your Conversion Offer
If your internship converts to a full-time role, KPMG would need to file your H-1B petition by April 1 for an October 1 start. A summer internship ending in August leaves very little buffer, so clarify conversion timelines during the offer stage.
Confirm E-3 Eligibility If You Hold Australian Citizenship
Australian citizens applying for KPMG Tax Intern roles can pursue the E-3 visa, which has no annual lottery and significantly simpler employer filing requirements than the H-1B. Raise this with your KPMG recruiter early, since not all HR teams proactively offer it.
Use Migrate Mate to Identify Active KPMG Tax Intern Openings
KPMG posts Tax Intern roles across multiple offices and service lines at different times of year. Search Migrate Mate to filter current openings by visa sponsorship type and location, so you're applying to positions where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than following up after the fact.

Find Tax Intern at KPMG JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does KPMG sponsor H-1B visas for Tax Interns?
Yes, KPMG sponsors H-1B visas, typically when an internship converts to a full-time offer rather than for the internship itself. Because H-1B petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start, your internship timeline and conversion date matter. Students on F-1 OPT can work during the gap while the petition is pending.
Which visa types does KPMG commonly sponsor for Tax Intern roles?
KPMG sponsors H-1B, E-3, and employment-based Green Card categories including EB-2 and EB-3, primarily at the full-time stage following a successful internship. For the internship itself, most international students work on F-1 CPT or OPT. Australian citizens have additional flexibility through the E-3, which bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely.
How do I apply for Tax Intern jobs at KPMG?
Most Tax Intern applications go through KPMG's campus recruiting portal, which opens in late summer or early fall for the following year's positions. You can also browse verified openings with visa sponsorship confirmed on Migrate Mate. Tailor your application to a specific Tax service line rather than applying generically, since KPMG's Tax practice recruits separately from other business units.
What qualifications does KPMG look for in Tax Intern candidates?
KPMG typically looks for students pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, taxation, or a related field, often with a CPA track in progress. Relevant coursework in federal income tax, corporate structures, or partnership taxation strengthens your application. Prior internship experience in accounting or finance is a plus but not required for first-year intern roles.
How do I plan my timeline if I want KPMG to sponsor my visa after my internship?
If your goal is full-time H-1B sponsorship, work backward from April 1, the H-1B filing deadline. A summer internship converting to a fall full-time offer is the tightest scenario, leaving only weeks between your offer and the petition deadline. Discuss visa timelines with your KPMG recruiter during the offer stage so USCIS filing can be prepared in advance.
