Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
KPMG's Technical Lead roles require a degree directly tied to the position's technical demands. A general IT or business degree may not satisfy USCIS specialty occupation criteria for roles that blend audit methodology with systems architecture. Match your transcripts to the role's core technical discipline before applying.
Target KPMG's technology-enabled advisory practices
Within KPMG, Technical Lead openings in deal advisory, digital transformation, and audit technology see the most consistent visa sponsorship activity. Focusing your search on these practice areas, rather than generalist IT roles, puts you in front of hiring managers who routinely work through sponsorship workflows.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active Technical Lead openings
KPMG's sponsored Technical Lead roles are spread across practice lines and office locations, making them easy to miss. Use Migrate Mate to filter for verified sponsoring positions at KPMG so you're applying to roles with a clear visa pathway already in place.
Clarify sponsorship scope before the offer stage
KPMG sponsors both H-1B and E-3 visas, but the internal approval process for sponsorship can vary by practice group and geography. Confirm early in your interviews whether the specific team has sponsored the visa type you need, so there are no surprises when an offer is extended.
Prepare for PERM labor certification timelines if pursuing a Green Card
KPMG supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways, but DOL's PERM process can add 12 to 24 months before an I-140 is filed. If permanent residence is part of your plan, ask during negotiations how and when KPMG typically initiates PERM for Technical Lead hires.
Account for KPMG's client deployment model in your status planning
Technical Leads at KPMG frequently work across multiple client sites, which can affect your H-1B compliance obligations. DOL rules require a certified Labor Condition Application to cover each worksite location, so confirm how KPMG handles multi-site LCA amendments before your start date.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does KPMG sponsor H-1B visas for Technical Leads?
Yes, KPMG sponsors H-1B visas for Technical Lead roles. The firm files petitions through the standard USCIS H-1B cap process each April, with selection subject to the annual lottery. Technical Lead positions typically qualify as specialty occupations given the degree requirements in fields like computer science, information systems, or engineering, which supports a strong petition.
How do I apply for Technical Lead jobs at KPMG?
Applications go through KPMG's careers portal, where Technical Lead openings are listed by practice area and location. Roles appear under advisory, audit technology, and digital transformation practices most frequently. Migrate Mate also surfaces verified KPMG Technical Lead openings filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility, which helps you prioritize roles where sponsorship is actively available rather than searching the full listing.
Which visa types does KPMG commonly use for Technical Lead roles?
KPMG sponsors H-1B visas for most Technical Lead hires and E-3 visas for eligible Australian citizens, which bypass the H-1B lottery entirely. For long-term hires, KPMG also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways through PERM labor certification. The visa type offered will depend on your nationality, current status, and which practice group is making the hire.
What qualifications does KPMG expect for a sponsored Technical Lead position?
KPMG typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related technical field such as computer science, information systems, or engineering, alongside several years of hands-on experience leading technical workstreams. For sponsored roles, the degree-to-job match matters more than it might elsewhere because it directly supports the specialty occupation determination USCIS requires for H-1B and E-3 petitions.
How do I plan around the H-1B timeline when targeting KPMG?
The H-1B cap registration window opens in early March each year, with an October 1 employment start date for selected candidates. If you're targeting a cap-subject H-1B through KPMG, align your interview process to have an offer finalized before March. If you're already in H-1B status with another employer, KPMG can file a transfer petition year-round without waiting for the next cap cycle.
