Align your experience to JPMorganChase's tech domains
JPMorganChase's Technical Lead openings cluster around cloud infrastructure, payments platforms, and risk systems. Frame your resume around ownership of distributed systems or engineering team delivery in regulated industries, not just individual contributor work.
Obtain credential evaluations before applying
If your degree is from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved service before you're in the offer stage. JPMorganChase's legal team will need this for H-1B specialty occupation filings, and delays here can push your start date.
Target roles in JPMC's technology and Chief Data and Analytics Office divisions
Not all JPMorganChase business lines hire Technical Leads at the same pace. Focusing on their global technology organization and data engineering arms surfaces roles where sponsorship for H-1B and E-3 candidates has historically been more common.
Clarify sponsorship scope during the recruiter screen
Ask the recruiter explicitly whether the role supports H-1B transfer, new H-1B cap filing, or only cap-exempt situations. JPMorganChase can file H-1B transfers year-round, but new cap filings are bound to the April lottery window, which affects your start date.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Technical Lead roles at JPMorganChase
Filter by visa type and role on Migrate Mate to identify active Technical Lead postings at JPMorganChase that are open to sponsored candidates, so you're not spending time on listings that won't support your visa category.
Understand PERM timelines if you're targeting permanent residence
If you're on H-1B and want JPMorganChase to initiate a Green Card through the EB-2 or EB-3 pathway, PERM labor certification with the DOL typically takes 12 to 18 months before the I-140 petition can even be filed. Raise this in negotiations, not after onboarding.

Find Technical Lead at JPMorganChase JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does JPMorganChase sponsor H-1B visas for Technical Leads?
Yes, JPMorganChase sponsors H-1B visas for Technical Lead roles. The firm files both new cap-subject H-1B petitions through the annual USCIS lottery and cap-exempt H-1B transfers for candidates already holding H-1B status with another employer. If you're transferring, you can start work as soon as USCIS receives the petition. New cap filings require selection in the April lottery and have an October 1 start date.
How do I apply for Technical Lead jobs at JPMorganChase?
Apply directly through JPMorganChase's careers portal or browse open sponsorship-eligible postings on Migrate Mate. When applying, tailor your resume to the specific technology domain listed in the posting, whether that's platform engineering, data infrastructure, or payments. Recruiters at JPMorganChase typically screen for demonstrated team leadership, system design experience, and delivery ownership in complex engineering environments.
Which visa types does JPMorganChase commonly use for Technical Lead roles?
JPMorganChase sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for Technical Lead roles, alongside immigrant pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-term permanent residence. H-1B1 is available exclusively to Chilean and Singaporean nationals, while E-3 is limited to Australian citizens. If you hold one of these nationalities, these categories bypass the H-1B lottery entirely and can be faster to obtain.
What qualifications does JPMorganChase expect for Technical Lead candidates requiring sponsorship?
JPMorganChase's Technical Lead roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related field, which is also the threshold USCIS requires to classify the role as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes. Beyond the degree, expect the hiring bar to include hands-on experience leading engineering teams, designing large-scale distributed systems, and delivering production software in regulated or high-availability environments.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Technical Lead offer at JPMorganChase?
If you're transferring an existing H-1B, JPMorganChase can file a cap-exempt petition and you can begin work upon receipt, typically within two to four weeks of filing. New H-1B cap filings submitted in April have a mandatory October 1 start date, meaning you may wait six months between offer and day one. E-3 and H-1B1 petitions processed via consular processing generally take four to eight weeks from filing to visa stamp, depending on consulate availability.
