The impact you’ll make
The Senior Business Systems Analyst (SBSA) – Enterprise Role Management is responsible for the design, development, governance, and lifecycle management of Enterprise Role definitions across a large, global semiconductor manufacturing organization. This role partners closely with senior business leaders, role owners, and process owners who are responsible for the company’s most critical end-to-end business processes—similar in scope and complexity to those typically addressed in major ERP implementations.
The primary objective of this role is to define and sustain workforce Enterprise Roles by:
- Clearly documenting business responsibilities.
- Mapping those responsibilities to L4 and L5 business processes.
- Aligning processes to the applications that support them.
- Ensuring Enterprise Roles are consistently translated into application-level roles and entitlements.
This role serves as a cross-functional organizer, facilitator, and leader, establishing clear ownership and accountability to ensure the Enterprise Role Catalog remains accurate, scalable, auditable, and sustainable over the long term.
What you’ll do
Enterprise Role Definition & Lifecycle Management
- Lead the end-to-end lifecycle management of Enterprise Roles, including creation, validation, maintenance, certification, and retirement.
- Define Enterprise Roles based on workforce responsibilities and business accountability, rather than individual applications or legacy access models.
- Establish and maintain a centralized, authoritative Enterprise Role Catalog used across Business, IT, Identity, and Security functions.
- Partner with designated Enterprise Role Owners to ensure role definitions accurately reflect business intent and operational reality.
- Ensure each Enterprise Role has a clearly documented owner responsible for long-term alignment across people, processes, and systems.
Enterprise Role Ownership, Alignment & Accountability
- Establish and formalize Enterprise Role Owners in collaboration with business and process leadership to ensure clear accountability for role accuracy and sustainability.
- Define and document role owner responsibilities, including stewardship of business responsibilities, L4/L5 process mappings, and application alignment.
- Serve as the primary facilitator connecting role owners, process owners, and application owners to ensure consistent and traceable mapping of people processes, systems.
- Enable clear communication, decision-making, and escalation paths for role definition, changes, and exceptions.
- Ensure role owners are actively engaged throughout the role lifecycle, including onboarding of new roles, periodic reviews, and change management.
Business Process Mapping & Analysis
- Partner with business leaders, process owners, and Enterprise Role Owners to document and maintain L4 and L5 business processes across core enterprise domains.
- Translate business process ownership into clear role accountability and responsibility models.
- Ensure accountability for process-to-role mappings is clearly assigned, validated, and documented.
- Align process definitions with ERP-based operating models and enterprise process standards.
Application & Entitlement Mapping
- Map Enterprise Roles to the enterprise applications that support assigned business processes, including ERP, MES, PLM, SCM, Finance, HR, and custom systems.
- Partner with application owners, security teams, and Enterprise Role Owners to define application-level roles and entitlements that support each Enterprise Role.
- Ensure Enterprise Roles translate into consistent, reusable, and least-privilege access models at the application level.
- Validate that application access accurately enables L4/L5 processes without over-provisioning or unnecessary risk.
- Ensure role owners review and approve how Enterprise Roles are implemented across systems.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a trusted advisor and facilitator to business leaders, role owners, process owners, IT, Security, and Identity teams.
- Lead structured workshops and working sessions to drive consensus on role definitions, process accountability, and system access.
- Resolve conflicts between business needs, system constraints, and security requirements through data-driven analysis and collaboration.
- Influence outcomes across organizational boundaries without direct authority.
Governance, Documentation & Sustainability
- Establish and enforce governance standards for Enterprise Role creation, ownership, change management, and exception handling.
- Produce and maintain high-quality documentation, including:
- Enterprise Role definitions and descriptions.
- Role ownership assignments.
- L4/L5 process-to-role mappings.
- Application and entitlement mappings.
- RACI and accountability models.
- Ensure Enterprise Role models support audit, compliance, and internal control requirements (e.g., SOX).
- Design role governance processes that scale with organizational growth, acquisitions, and system evolution.
Who we’re looking for
- Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of experience; or Master’s degree with 8+ years of experience; or equivalent experience.

- Proven experience working with enterprise business processes at the L4 and L5 levels.
- Experience collaborating with or supporting Identity & Access Management (IAM) or role-based access initiatives is strongly preferred.
- Manufacturing and/or semiconductor industry experience is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of end-to-end enterprise business processes and operating models.
- Ability to translate complex business responsibilities into structured, sustainable role models.
- Exceptional facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

- Comfortable operating at both strategic and execution levels.

Align Your Degree to Semiconductor Research
Lam Research's Research Analyst roles typically require a background in materials science, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, or physics. A degree that maps directly to semiconductor process research strengthens both your H-1B specialty occupation case and your interview positioning.
Target Lam's Boise and Fremont Research Hubs
Lam's U.S. research operations are concentrated in Fremont, California and Boise, Idaho. Filtering your applications to these locations increases your chances of landing a role with an established team that regularly works with international hires and internal immigration counsel.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Open Research Analyst Roles
Sponsorship-friendly Research Analyst openings at Lam Research aren't always easy to surface through general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for roles at Lam that are open to visa sponsorship, so you're applying where your status won't disqualify you.
Prepare for PERM if You're Planning a Green Card

Does Lam Research sponsor H-1B visas for Research Analysts?
Yes, Lam Research sponsors H-1B visas for Research Analyst roles. The position typically qualifies as a specialty occupation given the requirement for a bachelor's degree or higher in a field like materials science, electrical engineering, or chemical engineering. Sponsorship is handled through Lam's internal immigration team, and the process follows standard USCIS H-1B cap timelines unless a cap-exempt filing applies.
How do I apply for Research Analyst jobs at Lam Research?
Applications go through Lam Research's careers portal at lamresearch.com. You can also find and filter their open Research Analyst roles on Migrate Mate, which surfaces positions where visa sponsorship is available. When applying, tailor your resume to reflect semiconductor process knowledge, data analysis experience, and any familiarity with etch, deposition, or related fabrication technologies that align with Lam's core product areas.
Which visa types does Lam Research commonly use for Research Analyst positions?
Lam Research sponsors across several visa categories for Research Analyst roles, including H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, J-1, and EB-2 or EB-3 Green Cards for longer-term sponsorship. F-1 CPT and OPT are frequently used for interns and new graduates entering full-time research roles, while TN is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals with qualifying degrees in engineering or science fields.
What qualifications does Lam Research expect from Research Analyst candidates?
Lam Research Research Analyst roles generally require a bachelor's degree at minimum, with many positions preferring a master's or Ph.D. in materials science, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, physics, or a closely related discipline. Hands-on experience with semiconductor fabrication processes, data modeling, or equipment characterization is a strong differentiator. Candidates with prior internship or co-op experience in the electronics and hardware industry tend to move through the process faster.
How do I handle the gap between OPT expiration and H-1B approval at Lam Research?
If your OPT expires before October 1 and your H-1B has been selected in the lottery, a timely filed H-1B petition provides a cap-gap extension that covers you through September 30. USCIS rules allow you to continue working under the cap-gap if your OPT was still valid at the time of filing. Confirm your I-94 end date and coordinate with Lam's immigration team to ensure the petition is filed before any work authorization gap occurs.
