Align your certifications with Lam's environment
Lam Research runs enterprise-scale IT infrastructure supporting cleanroom and fab operations. Certifications like CompTIA A+, ITIL, or Microsoft endpoint management signal you can support the specialized hardware and ticketing systems common in semiconductor manufacturing environments.
Target roles tied to fab or R&D sites
Lam's IT Support openings cluster around its engineering and manufacturing sites in Fremont, Tualatin, and similar locations. Applying to roles explicitly supporting lab or production environments gives you a stronger fit signal than general corporate IT positions.
Flag degree equivalency early in the process
H-1B eligibility for IT Support requires a qualifying specialty occupation degree. If your credential is a three-year bachelor's or comes from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator before your first interview, not after an offer is made.
Understand how PERM affects your green card timeline
Lam sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for IT Support roles, which require PERM labor certification through DOL. That process typically takes a year or more before an I-140 petition can be filed, so ask about sponsorship intent during the offer stage, not after you start.
Use Migrate Mate to find active IT Support openings
Lam Research posts IT Support roles across multiple sites, and availability shifts frequently. Search Migrate Mate to filter for Lam Research positions that explicitly support visa sponsorship, so you're applying to openings where the path forward is already confirmed.

Find IT Support at Lam Research JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Lam Research sponsor H-1B visas for IT Support?
Yes, Lam Research sponsors H-1B visas for IT Support roles. The position needs to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning a specific bachelor's degree or its equivalent in a relevant field such as information technology, computer science, or a related discipline is required. Lam has a consistent history of filing H-1B petitions for technical support functions across its U.S. sites.
How do I apply for IT Support jobs at Lam Research?
Applications go through Lam Research's careers portal, where you can filter by function and location. Roles in IT Support often list specific hardware environments or ticketing systems as requirements, so tailor your resume to match those details. You can also browse active IT Support openings at Lam Research on Migrate Mate, which filters for positions where visa sponsorship is available.
Which visa types does Lam Research commonly use for IT Support roles?
Lam Research sponsors H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1, and Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for IT Support positions. TN visas apply to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying IT roles. F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates, with H-1B sponsorship often following for candidates who demonstrate strong performance.
What qualifications does Lam Research expect for IT Support roles?
Most IT Support roles at Lam Research require a bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field, alongside hands-on experience with enterprise hardware, service desk platforms, and endpoint management tools. Roles supporting fab or R&D environments may also require familiarity with Linux systems, network troubleshooting, or manufacturing IT infrastructure, reflecting Lam's semiconductor manufacturing context.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for an IT Support role at Lam Research?
The timeline depends on your visa category. F-1 OPT authorization is typically in place before you start, while H-1B petitions filed under the standard cap have an October 1 start date and require lottery selection in March. USCIS premium processing can reduce the petition adjudication window to 15 business days. Green Card sponsorship through PERM and I-140 runs on a separate, longer timeline that your immigration attorney will manage.
