Align your credentials with USCIS specialty occupation standards
IT Support roles at MathWorks typically require a degree in computer science, information systems, or a closely related field. Make sure your transcripts and credentials clearly reflect that field-specific match before you apply, since USCIS scrutinizes degree relevance for H-1B petitions.
Target MathWorks openings that list enterprise systems experience
MathWorks runs a large internal software environment supporting engineering and research workflows. Roles that mention enterprise IT, endpoint management, or systems administration signal higher technical complexity, which strengthens a specialty occupation argument during the H-1B filing process.
Ask about H-1B filing timing during the offer stage
The H-1B cap lottery opens in March for an October 1 start. If you receive an offer after the registration window closes, work with MathWorks HR to clarify whether a cap-exempt filing or a TN status applies to your situation while you wait for the next cycle.
Use Migrate Mate to filter IT Support openings by sponsorship type
Not every IT Support posting at MathWorks specifies which visa categories the team will support. Migrate Mate lets you filter roles by sponsorship type so you can prioritize applications where H-1B or Green Card sponsorship is already confirmed, saving time before outreach.
Prepare for PERM if you're targeting permanent residence
MathWorks sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards, but PERM labor certification requires your employer to document that no qualified U.S. worker was available. Raising permanent residence early in negotiations, before an offer is finalized, gives both sides time to plan the multi-year DOL process realistically.

Does MathWorks sponsor H-1B visas for IT Support roles?
Yes, MathWorks sponsors H-1B visas for IT Support positions. The role needs to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, which generally means a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field such as computer science or information systems is required for the position. MathWorks has an established immigration process and works with legal counsel to support eligible candidates through the H-1B cap filing cycle.
How do I apply for IT Support jobs at MathWorks?
Applications go through the MathWorks careers portal, where IT Support openings are listed under the IT or infrastructure category. Tailor your resume to reflect enterprise systems experience relevant to MathWorks' engineering-focused environment. You can also browse current openings filtered by sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles where visa support is confirmed before you apply.
Which visa types does MathWorks commonly use for IT Support positions?
MathWorks sponsors H-1B, TN, and J-1 visas for IT Support roles, and also hires candidates on F-1 OPT and CPT. For candidates seeking permanent residence, EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways are available. The right category depends on your nationality, degree level, and career stage. TN is a practical near-term option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying IT roles.
What qualifications does MathWorks expect for IT Support roles?
MathWorks typically looks for a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, along with hands-on experience in enterprise IT environments. Familiarity with endpoint management, identity systems, and ticketing platforms is commonly referenced in their postings. For visa sponsorship purposes, the degree must align with the specific technical duties of the role to satisfy USCIS specialty occupation requirements.
How do I plan my timeline if I need H-1B sponsorship at MathWorks?
The H-1B cap registration window runs in March each year, with employment starting October 1 at the earliest if selected. If you're on F-1 OPT, you need to secure an offer and file before your OPT expires, factoring in USCIS processing times of roughly three to five months without premium processing. Starting conversations with MathWorks recruiters in the fall or winter ahead of the March window gives you the most flexibility.
