Align your credentials to JPMorgan's research verticals
JPMorganChase recruits Research Analysts into distinct verticals: equity research, macro, credit, and quantitative strategies. Tailor your resume and cover letter to one vertical specifically, showing domain knowledge rather than a generalist profile.
Target roles that clear specialty occupation requirements
H-1B eligibility requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards. Research Analyst postings at JPMorganChase that explicitly require a degree in economics, finance, or a quantitative field are your strongest footing for petition approval.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Research Analyst roles
JPMorganChase posts Research Analyst openings across multiple business lines and locations simultaneously. Use Migrate Mate to filter for roles that flag visa sponsorship, so you're applying where the pathway is confirmed rather than assumed.
Engage with JPMorgan's campus recruiting pipeline early
A significant share of Research Analyst hires at JPMorganChase come through structured campus programs. If you're on OPT or STEM OPT, entering through a full-time analyst program gives your employer more lead time to initiate H-1B filing before your authorization window closes.
Understand how your visa type affects the filing timeline
JPMorganChase sponsors H-1B, E-3, and H-1B1 visas depending on your nationality. E-3 and H-1B1 visas are not subject to the annual cap lottery, which means your employer can file anytime and you can start sooner than the standard H-1B October 1 start date.
Confirm sponsorship intent before accepting an offer
During offer negotiation, ask JPMorganChase's recruiter specifically which visa category they intend to file and whether they use PERM for Green Card sponsorship. Getting this confirmed in writing prevents misalignment once you reach the onboarding stage.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does JPMorganChase sponsor H-1B visas for Research Analysts?
Yes, JPMorganChase sponsors H-1B visas for Research Analysts and has a well-established process for doing so. The firm works with immigration counsel to handle filings, and Research Analyst roles in quantitative, equity, and credit research typically satisfy USCIS specialty occupation requirements given their degree-specific hiring criteria.
Which visa types does JPMorganChase commonly sponsor for Research Analyst roles?
JPMorganChase sponsors H-1B visas for most international Research Analyst hires, but also files H-1B1 visa petitions for Chilean and Singaporean nationals and E-3 visa petitions for Australian citizens. Both H-1B1 and E-3 categories bypass the annual lottery, making them faster options if you qualify by nationality.
What qualifications does JPMorganChase expect for Research Analyst positions?
Most Research Analyst roles at JPMorganChase require a bachelor's or master's degree in economics, finance, statistics, or a quantitative discipline. For equity and credit research, domain expertise in a specific sector strengthens your candidacy significantly. Quantitative strategy roles typically expect proficiency in Python, R, or SQL alongside a rigorous analytical background.
How do I apply for Research Analyst jobs at JPMorganChase?
You can apply through JPMorganChase's careers portal, but roles fill quickly and postings are distributed across multiple business lines. Migrate Mate aggregates Research Analyst openings at JPMorganChase that include visa sponsorship, making it easier to identify which positions are actively hiring international candidates rather than sifting through listings that may not sponsor.
How do I plan my timeline if I'm on OPT and targeting a Research Analyst role at JPMorganChase?
If you're on F-1 OPT, your employer must file an H-1B petition in April for an October 1 start date. If your OPT expires before October 1, a cap-gap extension automatically bridges the gap provided your employer files before your OPT ends. STEM OPT extensions give you up to 24 additional months of work authorization, which significantly reduces timing pressure.
