Align your credentials with U.S. hospitality standards
Marriott's Hospitality hiring teams look for internationally recognized certifications alongside your degree. Get your foreign credentials evaluated by a NACES-approved agency before applying, so your qualifications read clearly to U.S. hiring managers and immigration attorneys.
Target property-level roles with seasonal demand
Marriott sponsors H-2B visas for temporary Hospitality roles tied to seasonal demand at specific properties. Research which Marriott brands and U.S. locations historically run peak-season hiring cycles, since sponsorship availability is tied directly to property-level workforce needs.
Understand the H-2B cap and petition timing
H-2B visas are subject to a congressionally set annual cap, split between the first and second half of the fiscal year. Marriott must file your petition before those caps fill, so engaging your recruiter early about start dates and filing windows is essential.
Browse open Hospitality roles on Migrate Mate
Filter for Marriott International Hospitality openings on Migrate Mate to surface roles where sponsorship is actively associated with the position. This saves time you'd otherwise spend screening postings that don't lead to a visa-supported offer.
Prepare for DOL-required employment verification steps
Marriott participates in E-Verify, the federal employment eligibility verification system. Have your identity and work authorization documents ready before your start date, since E-Verify confirmation must happen within three business days of onboarding.
Ask the recruiter about petition sponsorship scope early
H-2B sponsorship covers a fixed employment period tied to the petition approval. Clarify with your Marriott recruiter whether the role includes a defined end date and what the path looks like for extending or transitioning status before you accept an offer.

Find Hospitality at Marriott International JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Marriott International sponsor H-1B visas for Hospitality roles?
Marriott International's Hospitality sponsorship activity is concentrated around H-2B visas, which cover temporary or seasonal positions in guest services, food and beverage, and related roles. H-1B sponsorship is generally reserved for corporate or specialty occupation roles requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field, which most frontline Hospitality positions do not meet under USCIS specialty occupation criteria.
Which visa types are commonly used for Hospitality roles at Marriott International?
The H-2B nonimmigrant visa is the primary pathway for Hospitality positions at Marriott, covering temporary workers in roles like housekeeping, front desk, and food service when U.S. workers are unavailable to fill seasonal demand. Candidates already holding other valid nonimmigrant status may also explore change-of-status options, but the H-2B is the most common employer-sponsored route for this function.
What qualifications and experience does Marriott International expect for Hospitality roles?
Marriott typically looks for prior experience in hotel operations, guest services, or food and beverage, with the level of seniority varying by property and brand. Customer-facing communication skills are weighted heavily. For sponsored roles, your background needs to clearly support the specific position listed on the DOL job order, since the labor certification process ties the offer to defined duties and qualifications.
How do I apply for Hospitality jobs at Marriott International?
You can find Marriott International Hospitality openings that include visa sponsorship by browsing Migrate Mate, which filters for employer-sponsored positions in this category. When you apply directly through Marriott's hiring portal, note the property location and brand, since sponsorship decisions are made at the property level rather than centrally. Tailor your application to the specific operational duties listed in the job posting.
How do I understand the timeline for an H-2B petition at Marriott International?
The H-2B process starts with Marriott filing a temporary labor certification with the DOL, which must be approved before USCIS can adjudicate the petition. The full cycle from DOL filing to visa issuance can run several months, and petitions must be submitted well ahead of your intended start date. Because H-2B cap numbers fill quickly, your recruiter's filing timeline directly affects whether sponsorship is possible for a given season.
