People interested in satisfying careers with competitive benefits. People interested in growing and advancing. People with lots to offer. People like you. If you’re interested (and we sure hope you are), let’s get together.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The General Manager is responsible for running a profitable restaurant and for making sure the restaurant meets McDonald’s critical customer standards of Quality, Service, and Cleanliness. These standards are high, so this is a big job! The General Manager works with his/her leader to set the restaurant’s goals and creates a plan to achieve the goals.
To meet restaurant goals, the General Manager doesn’t work alone. He or she leads a team of Department Managers that has specific responsibilities in the restaurant. This means helping the Department Managers to set their own goals, following up on their progress, and providing coaching and direction to improve their Departments. By improving the Departments, the restaurant improves!
The General Manager may also be responsible for hiring and developing Department and Shift Managers to make sure that the restaurant has the right team to lead into the future.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be Servsafe certified and attended McDonald's training classes.
This job posting is for a position in a restaurant owned and operated by an independent franchisee, not McDonald’s Corporation or McDonald’s USA, LLC. This means the independent franchisee, and not McDonald’s Corporation or McDonald’s USA, LLC, is alone responsible for all employment related matters in the restaurant including, among other things, setting any requirements for this job and all decisions concerning hiring, firing, discipline, supervisions, staffing and scheduling. McDonald’s Corporation or McDonald’s USA, LLC will not receive a copy of any application you submit for this job posting and will have no control over whether you receive an interview and/or are ultimately hired, does not control and is not responsible for the employment policies and practices of independent franchisees, and does not employ independent franchisees’ employees. If you are hired for this job posting, the independent franchisee, and not McDonald’s Corporation or McDonald’s USA, LLC, will be your employer.
This job posting contains some general information about what it is like to work in a McDonald’s restaurant, but is not a complete job description. People who work in a McDonald’s restaurant perform a number of different tasks every day, and this posting does not list all of the essential functions of the job.
McDonald's is a drug free environment as this is a safety sensitive position.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Customer Service Jobs at McDonald's Jobs
Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
H-1B eligibility requires a specialty occupation, which most front-line crew roles won't meet. Target corporate Customer Service, training, or operations roles that require a relevant bachelor's degree to build a credible petition.
Target corporate and regional office postings
McDonald's franchisee locations rarely have the HR infrastructure to file visa petitions. Focus on postings from McDonald's Corporation directly, where dedicated immigration support is most likely for Customer Service functions.
Use OPT strategically before your visa window opens
If you're on F-1 status, starting with McDonald's Corporation on OPT lets you build internal credibility. Employers are far more willing to sponsor candidates they've already hired and observed in the role.
Clarify sponsorship scope before accepting an offer
Ask HR explicitly whether the offer includes both the LCA filing with DOL and the I-129 petition with USCIS. McDonald's corporate sponsors selectively, and confirming both steps upfront avoids surprises after you've accepted.
Search verified sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Filter by Customer Service roles in Food and Beverage to surface McDonald's postings with confirmed sponsorship history. Migrate Mate lets you prioritize applications toward positions where a visa pathway has actually been used.
Prepare bilingual service experience as a differentiator
McDonald's serves diverse communities, and candidates who demonstrate customer-facing experience in multiple languages are genuinely competitive for corporate Customer Experience or training roles that support a stronger sponsorship case.

Does McDonald's sponsor H-1B visas for Customer Service?
McDonald's Corporation does sponsor H-1B visas, but not for every Customer Service role. Sponsorship is most common for positions at the corporate level that require a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as customer experience management or training and development. Front-line crew and shift supervisor roles at franchisee locations generally don't qualify under H-1B specialty occupation standards.
How do I apply for Customer Service jobs at McDonald's?
Apply directly through McDonald's careers portal, filtering for corporate or regional Customer Service roles if you need visa sponsorship. Franchisee-run locations post separately and rarely support immigration filings. You can also browse sponsorship-verified McDonald's postings on Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles where the company has an active sponsorship track record, narrowing your search to positions worth pursuing.
Which visa types are commonly used for Customer Service roles at McDonald's?
McDonald's has used H-1B for corporate specialty occupation roles, TN visas for qualifying Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible occupations, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students gaining work experience. For longer-term pathways, EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship has been used for employees transitioning from temporary to permanent status through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications are expected for sponsored Customer Service roles at McDonald's?
Corporate Customer Service and customer experience roles typically expect a bachelor's degree in business, communications, hospitality, or a related field. Relevant experience in high-volume customer environments, data-driven service operations, or training program delivery strengthens your candidacy. Roles requiring a degree are also the ones most likely to support an H-1B specialty occupation determination, so aligning your background to those expectations matters from the start.
How do I think about timing when pursuing visa sponsorship at McDonald's?
If you're targeting H-1B sponsorship, McDonald's would need to file your petition by April 1 for an October 1 start, meaning your offer and LCA certification with DOL should be in place by March. If you're on OPT, your 12-month window, or 24 months for STEM-adjacent fields, gives you time to get hired and positioned for sponsorship before your status expires. Plan your job search at least six to nine months ahead of any status deadline.
