People interested in satisfying careers with competitive benefits. People interested in growing and advancing. People with lots to offer. People like you. If you’re interested (and we sure hope you are), let’s get together.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The General Manager is responsible for running a profitable restaurant and for making sure the restaurant meets McDonald’s critical customer standards of Quality, Service, and Cleanliness. These standards are high, so this is a big job! The General Manager works with his/her leader to set the restaurant’s goals and creates a plan to achieve the goals.
To meet restaurant goals, the General Manager doesn’t work alone. He or she leads a team of Department Managers that has specific responsibilities in the restaurant. By improving the Departments, the restaurant improves!
The General Manager may also be responsible for hiring and developing Department and Shift Managers to make sure that the restaurant has the right team to lead into the future.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be Servsafe certified and attended McDonald’s training classes.
This job posting is for a position in a restaurant owned and operated by an independent franchisee, not McDonald’s Corporation or McDonald’s USA, LLC. This means the independent franchisee, and not McDonald’s Corporation or McDonald’s USA, LLC, is alone responsible for all employment related matters in the restaurant including, among other things, setting any requirements for this job and all decisions concerning hiring, firing, discipline, supervisions, staffing and scheduling. McDonald’s Corporation or McDonald’s USA, LLC will not receive a copy of any application you submit for this job posting and will have no control over whether you receive an interview and/or are ultimately hired, does not control and is not responsible for the employment policies and practices of independent franchisees, and does not employ independent franchisees’ employees. If you are hired for this job posting, the independent franchisee, and not McDonald’s Corporation or McDonald’s USA, LLC, will be your employer.

Align your background with McDonald's program verticals
McDonald's hires Program Managers across technology, supply chain, and restaurant operations. Frame your resume around the specific vertical you're targeting, a supply chain PM background reads very differently to their hiring teams than a software delivery PM.
Target McDonald's corporate postings over franchise roles
Visa sponsorship sits with the McDonald's Corporation, not its franchisees. Program Manager openings posted under the corporate entity in Oak Brook or regional offices are the ones that come with H-1B and Green Card pathways, franchise-operated locations do not sponsor.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Program Manager roles
McDonald's posts a high volume of Program Manager positions across functions at any given time. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for roles that align with your visa type so you're not spending time on postings that won't support sponsorship.
Ask about LCA filing timing before accepting an offer
McDonald's must file a certified Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting your H-1B petition to USCIS. Confirm with your recruiter where the company is in that process so you can plan your start date around realistic filing and approval windows.
Understand PERM implications if pursuing permanent residence
McDonald's has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for corporate roles. If long-term sponsorship matters to you, raise it during the offer stage. PERM timelines through DOL currently run over a year, so starting that conversation early affects your multi-year planning significantly.

Find Program Manager at McDonald's JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does McDonald's sponsor H-1B visas for Program Managers?
Yes, McDonald's sponsors H-1B visas for Program Manager roles at the corporate level. These positions are based primarily at the Oak Brook headquarters and regional offices. McDonald's participates in the H-1B cap lottery through USCIS, so timing your job search around the annual registration window in March is important if you don't already hold H-1B status.
How do I apply for Program Manager jobs at McDonald's?
Applications go through McDonald's careers portal. Program Manager roles span technology, supply chain, marketing, and restaurant operations, so search by function rather than just title. You can also browse open roles at McDonald's that are filtered for visa sponsorship on Migrate Mate, which saves you from manually screening postings that won't support your work authorization status.
Which visa types does McDonald's commonly use for Program Manager roles?
McDonald's has sponsored H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT and CPT for Program Manager positions. H-1B is the primary pathway for longer-term employment. TN is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying management and professional categories. F-1 OPT gives recent graduates an entry point before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship through the cap lottery.
What qualifications does McDonald's expect for Program Manager roles?
McDonald's typically expects a bachelor's degree in business, operations, technology, or a related field for Program Manager positions, with several years of relevant project or program delivery experience. Corporate roles in Oak Brook often favor candidates with experience in large-scale cross-functional programs. PMP certification isn't always required but tends to strengthen applications for operations-heavy PM roles.
How do I time my Program Manager job search at McDonald's around visa deadlines?
If you need H-1B sponsorship, target offers by late February so your employer can register you in the USCIS lottery in March. For F-1 OPT candidates, build in a buffer before your OPT expires, McDonald's needs time to prepare the LCA with DOL and the I-129 petition before your current authorization lapses. Starting outreach three to four months before your deadline is a practical minimum.
