Align your credentials to Amazon's PM framework
Amazon evaluates Program Managers against its Leadership Principles, so map your resume to outcomes like ownership, bias for action, and delivering results. USCIS requires specialty occupation proof, so your degree field must connect clearly to the PM role's scope.
Target teams with recurring PM headcount
Amazon's AWS, Devices, and Fulfillment Network orgs post Program Manager roles year-round, not just in annual hiring cycles. Prioritize these divisions when searching, as recurring headcount signals established budget and sponsorship infrastructure rather than one-off backfills.
Clarify sponsorship scope before your loop interview
Amazon's recruiting team distinguishes between transfer sponsorship for current H-1B holders and new cap-subject filings. Ask your recruiter directly which applies to your situation before your onsite loop, since the answer affects your start date timeline significantly.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified Amazon PM openings
Not every Amazon PM listing explicitly states sponsorship eligibility. Use Migrate Mate to browse Program Manager roles at Amazon filtered by visa type, so you're applying to positions where sponsorship has already been confirmed rather than guessing from the job description.
Understand the H-1B cap timing for new sponsorships
If you need a new cap-subject H-1B, Amazon must file during the April registration window for an October 1 start. Structure your interview timeline accordingly so an offer can be extended and paperwork prepared well before the DOL Labor Condition Application deadline.
Position yourself for PERM if your goal is permanent residence
Amazon initiates PERM labor certification for eligible employees, but the process typically begins after your first year in role. Performing strongly in your PM position and documenting your specialized contributions helps build the case file your employer will submit to DOL.

Find Program Manager at Amazon JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Amazon sponsor H-1B visas for Program Managers?
Yes, Amazon sponsors H-1B visas for Program Manager roles. The company files both cap-subject petitions for new applicants and cap-exempt transfers for existing H-1B holders changing employers. If you're currently on H-1B with another employer, Amazon can typically initiate a transfer that lets you start before USCIS approves the new petition.
Which visa types does Amazon commonly sponsor for Program Manager roles?
Amazon sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for Program Managers depending on your nationality. Australian citizens are eligible for the E-3, which has no lottery and a dedicated annual allocation. For permanent residence, Amazon supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for qualifying employees, typically after an initial period in the role.
What qualifications does Amazon expect for a sponsored Program Manager role?
Amazon generally expects a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business, engineering, computer science, or supply chain management, along with demonstrated project or program management experience. Many roles at the senior level also expect PMP certification or equivalent evidence of leading cross-functional programs. Your degree field needs to align specifically with the role's scope for USCIS specialty occupation purposes.
How do I apply for Program Manager jobs at Amazon?
Start by identifying Amazon PM openings that explicitly support visa sponsorship. You can browse verified listings on Migrate Mate, which filters Amazon roles by visa type so you're not relying on job description language that may be ambiguous. Apply through Amazon's careers portal, tailor your resume to Leadership Principles, and confirm sponsorship scope with your recruiter early in the process before your loop interview.
How do I plan my timeline when pursuing an Amazon PM role that requires H-1B sponsorship?
If you need a new cap-subject H-1B, the filing window opens in April for an October 1 start date. That means you'd need an offer finalized and a Labor Condition Application certified with DOL before Amazon can submit your USCIS petition. Build your job search timeline to allow for this, ideally targeting interviews in the January through March window.
