Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Program Assistant Jobs at McDonald's Jobs
Align your background with McDonald's program functions
Program Assistant roles at McDonald's typically support operations, supply chain, or franchisee relations teams. Frame your resume around project coordination, cross-functional support, or process documentation in food service or consumer goods contexts, not just general administrative experience.
Target McDonald's corporate offices over restaurant operations
Visa sponsorship for Program Assistant roles concentrates in McDonald's corporate headquarters in Chicago and regional support centers, not franchise locations. Filter your job search to corporate postings explicitly, as only those roles fall under McDonald's sponsoring entity.
Prepare your credential documentation early for specialty occupation review
H-1B sponsorship requires demonstrating specialty occupation status, which for Program Assistants depends on your degree field matching the role's duties. Have official transcripts, degree equivalency evaluations, and any relevant certifications ready before your offer stage.
Understand McDonald's PERM timeline for Green Card pathways
If you're targeting long-term sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3, the DOL's PERM labor certification process can take 12 to 18 months before USCIS even receives the petition. Raise Green Card intent early in offer negotiations so McDonald's HR can assess sponsorship eligibility alongside your H-1B.

Does McDonald's sponsor H-1B visas for Program Assistants?
Yes, McDonald's sponsors H-1B visas for Program Assistant roles at its corporate offices. These positions need to qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards, meaning the role must require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field. Candidates already on OPT often transition into H-1B sponsorship through McDonald's after demonstrating performance in the role.
How do I apply for Program Assistant jobs at McDonald's?
Applications go through McDonald's careers portal. Focus on corporate and regional support center postings, since those are the roles where visa sponsorship applies. Tailoring your application to the specific department, whether operations, supply chain, or franchisee support, increases your chances. Migrate Mate also lists verified Program Assistant openings at McDonald's where international candidates are actively considered.
Which visa types does McDonald's commonly use for Program Assistant roles?
McDonald's sponsors H-1B visas for qualified Program Assistants and also hires under F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates. For longer-term pathways, McDonald's has filed EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card petitions for program support functions. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying Program Assistant roles under USMCA professional categories.
What qualifications does McDonald's expect for a sponsored Program Assistant role?
McDonald's typically looks for a bachelor's degree in business, operations management, communications, or a related field for Program Assistant positions. Practical experience coordinating projects, managing stakeholder communications, or supporting cross-functional teams in a corporate environment strengthens your profile. For H-1B sponsorship, your degree field needs to align directly with the specific duties of the role you're applying for.
How do I time my job search around the H-1B cap and McDonald's hiring cycle?
H-1B petitions are filed in April for an October 1 start date, so you need an offer in hand before late March. McDonald's corporate hiring for Program Assistant roles tends to ramp up in Q1. If you're on OPT with a STEM extension, you have more flexibility, but starting your search in Q4 of the prior year gives you the best window to secure an offer before the filing deadline.
