Tailor your resume to McDonald's operational frameworks
McDonald's Operations hiring focuses on process improvement, cost control, and cross-functional coordination at scale. Highlight experience with standardized workflows, vendor management, or supply chain systems rather than general management background to align with how they evaluate candidates.
Target corporate and regional roles over store-level
Visa sponsorship in McDonald's Operations function is concentrated at the corporate and regional supply chain level, not restaurant-level management. Focus your search on roles in logistics, operations strategy, and process engineering, where sponsorship infrastructure is already in place.
Use Migrate Mate to filter sponsored Operations openings
Searching broadly across job boards wastes time on roles without sponsorship history. Use Migrate Mate to filter McDonald's Operations postings specifically by visa type so you're only pursuing positions where sponsorship is a realistic outcome.
Confirm your visa category before accepting an offer
McDonald's sponsors multiple visa categories for Operations roles, including H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT. Clarify which category applies to your situation before offer stage so the employer's legal team can initiate the correct USCIS or DOL filing without delays.
Prepare for PERM documentation requirements early
If you're targeting a Green Card pathway through an EB-2 or EB-3 category, the DOL PERM labor certification process requires detailed job descriptions and recruitment records. Aligning your role scope and credentials to PERM requirements before your start date reduces friction later.
Account for H-1B cap timing in your job search calendar
If your sponsorship requires a new H-1B cap-subject petition, USCIS registration opens in March for an October 1 start date. Build your McDonald's application timeline backward from that window so offer negotiations and filing prep don't conflict.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does McDonald's sponsor H-1B visas for Operations roles?
Yes, McDonald's has sponsored H-1B visas for Operations professionals, primarily at the corporate and regional level in functions like supply chain, logistics, and process management. Sponsorship is handled through McDonald's in-house legal team. Your role must qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, which generally requires a relevant bachelor's degree or higher.
How do I apply for Operations jobs at McDonald's?
You can search and apply through McDonald's careers portal at careers.mcdonalds.com, filtering for Operations or Supply Chain roles at corporate or regional locations. To find positions with confirmed visa sponsorship history, browse Migrate Mate's McDonald's Operations listings, which surface roles where international candidates have a realistic path to sponsorship.
Which visa types does McDonald's commonly use for Operations positions?
McDonald's Operations sponsorship has covered H-1B, TN visa (for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying occupational categories), F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates in supply chain or operations fields, and employment-based Green Card categories including EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-tenured professionals. The right category depends on your nationality, degree field, and career stage.
What qualifications does McDonald's typically expect for Operations roles?
Corporate and regional Operations roles at McDonald's generally require a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, industrial engineering, business operations, or a related field. Practical experience with ERP systems, logistics coordination, or process optimization is valued. For H-1B eligibility, your degree must directly relate to the specific duties of the role you're being hired into.
How do I time my job search around the visa sponsorship process?
If you're on F-1 OPT, you have a defined authorization window, so target McDonald's Operations roles at least three to four months before your OPT expiration. For H-1B cap-subject cases, USCIS registration happens in March with an October 1 start. TN status can be obtained more quickly at the border or through a consulate, which can simplify timelines for Canadian and Mexican nationals.
