Frame your degree around operational leadership
McDonald's Business Manager roles typically require a bachelor's in business administration, operations management, or a related field. If your degree is adjacent, document how your coursework and experience map directly to multi-unit food service operations before you apply.
Target franchise support roles as entry points
McDonald's staffs Business Managers at both corporate and franchise support levels. Corporate postings are more likely to carry formal sponsorship infrastructure, so filter your search toward McDonald's USA LLC or McDonald's Corporation as the listed employer, not individual franchise operators.
Search verified sponsoring roles on Migrate Mate
Not every Business Manager posting at McDonald's comes with sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to filter for roles at McDonald's that have a confirmed visa sponsorship track record, so you're applying where the pathway already exists.
Align your timeline with H-1B cap deadlines
If you're transitioning off F-1 OPT, McDonald's corporate roles can support H-1B cap-season filing each March for an October 1 start. Plan your offer acceptance and onboarding timeline backward from that window to avoid a gap in work authorization.
Clarify sponsorship scope during the offer stage
Before signing, confirm in writing whether McDonald's will cover the PERM labor certification process if you're targeting a Green Card through EB-2 or EB-3. Sponsorship for an H-1B and sponsorship for permanent residence are separate commitments, and not all corporate divisions handle both.
Document multi-unit or P&L experience specifically
McDonald's evaluates Business Manager candidates on profit-and-loss accountability and multi-location oversight. If you're coming from outside the U.S., translate your equivalent regional or district management experience into metrics that match the language in their job descriptions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does McDonald's sponsor H-1B visas for Business Managers?
Yes, McDonald's sponsors H-1B visas for Business Manager roles, primarily through its corporate entity rather than individual franchise operators. Sponsorship is most consistent for corporate and field operations positions tied to McDonald's USA LLC or McDonald's Corporation. If you're targeting this path, confirm the employing entity on the job posting before applying, since franchise-operated locations typically do not carry the same sponsorship infrastructure.
Which visa types are commonly used for Business Manager roles at McDonald's?
McDonald's sponsors H-1B visas for specialty occupation roles and supports F-1 OPT and CPT for eligible students in qualifying business programs. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in management roles that meet USMCA criteria. For longer-term pathways, McDonald's has supported EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process for Business Manager positions at the corporate level.
What qualifications or experience does McDonald's expect for Business Manager roles?
McDonald's typically looks for a bachelor's degree in business, operations management, or a closely related field, combined with experience managing teams and overseeing financial performance across multiple locations or departments. Candidates coming from regional management, district operations, or franchise consulting backgrounds in food service or retail tend to be the strongest fit. Quantifiable experience with P&L accountability is consistently emphasized in their job descriptions.
How do I apply for Business Manager jobs at McDonald's?
Browse open Business Manager positions on Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles at McDonald's that have a confirmed visa sponsorship track record, so you're not wasting time on postings that won't support your immigration status. When applying directly, prioritize postings listed under McDonald's USA LLC or McDonald's Corporation as the employer. Tailor your resume to highlight multi-unit operational experience and financial oversight, which are the qualifications McDonald's most consistently screens for in this function.
How do I think about the timeline for visa sponsorship at McDonald's?
If you're on F-1 OPT, the most common path is to secure a Business Manager offer in time for McDonald's to file an H-1B petition during the cap-season window, which opens each March for an October 1 start date. USCIS standard processing runs three to five months, so offers accepted in the first quarter of the year align best. For Green Card sponsorship through PERM, the DOL labor certification process alone can take one to two years, so it's a parallel track, not an immediate next step.
