Frame experience around systemwide operations impact
McDonald's Operations Project Managers work across franchise systems, not single sites. Tailor your resume to show cross-functional project ownership, vendor coordination, or process standardization at scale. Generic project management experience reads as a poor fit for this environment.
Verify your degree field aligns with specialty occupation
H-1B eligibility for project manager roles requires a direct connection between your degree field and the job duties. Operations management, industrial engineering, or supply chain degrees support the specialty occupation case more cleanly than general business degrees.
Target corporate and regional positions over field operations
Visa sponsorship for Operations Project Managers at McDonald's flows through corporate and regional teams, not individual restaurant locations. Focus your applications on postings from McDonald's Corporation or its regional hubs rather than franchise-operated openings.
Understand TN eligibility if you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship
TN classification is available without a lottery or USCIS petition. For operations roles, the qualifying category is typically management consultant or engineer. Confirm your job duties and degree match the specific TN category before accepting an offer.
Clarify sponsorship scope during the offer negotiation stage
McDonald's sponsors multiple visa types, but which category applies depends on your citizenship, degree, and role level. Ask the recruiter directly which visa pathway they intend to file. Use Migrate Mate to identify which Operations Project Manager postings have active sponsorship histories before applying.
Account for PERM labor certification timelines in your start date planning
If your pathway includes an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card, PERM labor certification through DOL can take 12 to 18 months before the immigrant petition stage. Discuss this with your hiring manager early so your start date and project assignments are planned around realistic processing windows.

Find Operations Project Manager at McDonald's JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does McDonald's sponsor H-1B visas for Operations Project Managers?
Yes, McDonald's sponsors H-1B visas for Operations Project Manager roles at the corporate and regional level. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation when the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as operations management, industrial engineering, or supply chain. Your degree field must directly support the specific duties listed in the job description for the petition to hold up under USCIS review.
How do I apply for Operations Project Manager jobs at McDonald's?
Applications go through McDonald's corporate careers portal, where you can filter by function and location. Postings for Operations Project Manager roles appear under operations, strategy, or restaurant technology depending on the team. Migrate Mate aggregates McDonald's sponsorship-eligible openings so you can browse roles with confirmed visa sponsorship histories in one place, which saves time compared to filtering manually across multiple job boards.
Which visa types does McDonald's commonly use for Operations Project Manager roles?
McDonald's uses H-1B for most skilled international hires, including Operations Project Managers. F-1 OPT and CPT are available for recent graduates in qualifying STEM fields during their early-career stage. TN classification is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals whose degree and job duties fit a qualifying category. For longer-term employees, McDonald's also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through PERM labor certification.
What qualifications does McDonald's expect for an Operations Project Manager role?
Most postings require a bachelor's degree in operations management, business, industrial engineering, or a related field, plus several years of project management experience in a high-volume or multi-unit environment. Familiarity with process improvement frameworks such as Lean or Six Sigma is frequently listed. Experience working within franchise systems or with restaurant technology platforms is a differentiator, as McDonald's operations involve coordinating across thousands of franchise locations rather than a single site.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for an Operations Project Manager at McDonald's?
H-1B timelines depend on whether McDonald's files with or without premium processing. Standard USCIS processing runs several months, while premium processing returns a decision within 15 business days. H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed for an October 1 start date, so your offer timing matters significantly. Green Card pathways through PERM add 12 to 18 months for the DOL labor certification stage alone, before the immigrant petition is even filed.
