Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Operations Project Manager Jobs at Johnson Controls Jobs
Align your credentials to Johnson Controls' requirements
Johnson Controls typically expects a bachelor's degree in engineering, operations management, or a related technical field for this role. Confirm your degree maps to the specialty occupation definition before applying, since USCIS scrutinizes field-of-study alignment for manufacturing project management positions.
Target open roles tied to facility contracts
Johnson Controls wins long-term building and industrial facility contracts that generate sustained operations headcount. Prioritize openings attached to specific sites or project pipelines rather than general postings, since those roles carry stronger internal hiring urgency and clearer headcount approval.
Ask about LCA timing during the offer stage
Your employer must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before USCIS can process your H-1B petition. Ask your recruiter whether the LCA is filed as soon as an offer is accepted, since delays at this step push back your entire start timeline.
Clarify CPT and OPT overlap with your start date
If you're on F-1 status, confirm whether your OPT authorization end date aligns with Johnson Controls' onboarding schedule. A gap between OPT expiration and H-1B approval can interrupt employment, so cap-gap eligibility should be verified with your DSO early in the offer process.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified sponsorship postings
Searching across job boards makes it hard to separate roles with real sponsorship intent from vague postings. Use Migrate Mate to filter Operations Project Manager openings at Johnson Controls by visa type, so you're only applying to roles with confirmed sponsorship history.
Prepare for multi-site scope questions in interviews
Johnson Controls operations roles often span multiple facilities or customer sites. Frame your project management experience around cross-functional coordination and measurable operational outcomes, since interviewers assess whether you can manage complexity without direct authority across different locations.

Find Operations Project Manager at Johnson Controls JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Johnson Controls sponsor H-1B visas for Operations Project Managers?
Yes, Johnson Controls sponsors H-1B visas for Operations Project Manager roles. The company has filed H-1B petitions across engineering and operations functions, and this role qualifies as a specialty occupation given its degree requirements. Your employer handles the Labor Condition Application with the DOL and the I-129 petition with USCIS, but you should confirm sponsorship intent explicitly during the offer stage.
Which visa types are commonly used for Operations Project Manager roles at Johnson Controls?
H-1B is the most common path for Operations Project Managers at Johnson Controls, but the company also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering or management categories, J-1 for trainees in some cases, and employment-based Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 PERM for longer-tenured employees.
How do I apply for Operations Project Manager jobs at Johnson Controls?
Applications go through Johnson Controls' careers portal, where you can search by function and location. Migrate Mate also lists verified Operations Project Manager openings at Johnson Controls filtered by visa sponsorship type, which helps you identify roles where sponsorship has been confirmed. Tailor your application to highlight operational scope, cross-functional coordination, and measurable project outcomes relevant to manufacturing or facility environments.
What qualifications and experience does Johnson Controls expect for this role?
Johnson Controls typically requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, operations management, or a related technical discipline, along with demonstrated experience managing projects in manufacturing, facility systems, or industrial environments. PMP certification strengthens your application. The role often involves overseeing subcontractors, managing budgets, and coordinating across technical and non-technical stakeholders, so experience in those areas is directly relevant.
How do I plan my timeline if Johnson Controls sponsors my H-1B?
H-1B petitions for cap-subject candidates are filed in April for an October 1 start date, following a lottery held in March. If you're on OPT that expires before October 1, check whether cap-gap protection applies to bridge the gap. Johnson Controls' HR and legal teams manage the USCIS filing, but you should align your offer acceptance and notice periods with the April filing window to avoid missing the annual cap cycle.
