Align your credentials to manufacturing leadership standards
Johnson Controls' Executive Management roles typically require demonstrable P&L ownership or operational leadership in industrial or building technology sectors. Document your scope of authority clearly, as USCIS scrutinizes specialty occupation status for senior roles.
Target business units with active international hiring
Johnson Controls operates across HVAC, fire safety, and security divisions globally. Research which business units are expanding in the U.S. and focus your outreach on hiring managers within those divisions, not just central HR.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open Executive Management roles
Finding leadership roles that actively support visa sponsorship at large manufacturers is harder than it looks. Use Migrate Mate to filter Johnson Controls openings by role type and confirmed sponsorship history, so you're applying to positions with a realistic path forward.
Prepare for TN eligibility if you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship
TN status can be an efficient route for qualifying Executive Management professionals who are Canadian or Mexican citizens. Confirm your specific role title maps to an eligible TN category before your offer letter is finalized, since not all management titles qualify.

Does Johnson Controls sponsor H-1B visas for Executive Managements?
Yes, Johnson Controls sponsors H-1B visas for Executive Management roles where the position qualifies as a specialty occupation. For senior leadership positions, the company typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field. Given the H-1B lottery, your employer's legal team will need to register you in the annual USCIS selection window, which runs each March for an October 1 start date.
How do I apply for Executive Management jobs at Johnson Controls?
You can apply directly through the Johnson Controls careers portal or discover open roles with confirmed sponsorship history through Migrate Mate. For Executive Management positions, tailor your application to highlight operational scope, cross-functional leadership, and any experience in manufacturing, building technology, or industrial sectors. Most roles at this level involve multiple interview rounds before an offer is extended.
Which visa types does Johnson Controls commonly use for Executive Management roles?
Johnson Controls has sponsored H-1B, TN, J-1, and F-1 OPT workers, as well as permanent resident pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. For Executive Management specifically, H-1B is the most common nonimmigrant route, while EB-2 or EB-3 with PERM labor certification is the typical path toward a Green Card for long-term employees in leadership positions.
What qualifications are expected for Executive Management roles at Johnson Controls?
Most Executive Management openings at Johnson Controls require a bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related discipline, with many senior roles preferring an MBA or equivalent advanced degree. Candidates are expected to bring substantial experience in manufacturing operations, business development, or P&L management. International candidates should ensure their degree equivalency is well-documented, as USCIS will evaluate this during petition review.
How do I estimate the timeline for visa sponsorship at Johnson Controls?
For H-1B, expect a minimum of six to eight months from offer to start date if you are subject to the annual lottery. TN status for Canadian citizens can be obtained at the port of entry on the same day, making it significantly faster. If the company pursues PERM-based Green Card sponsorship, DOL audits and processing can extend the overall timeline to two years or more beyond your initial H-1B approval.
