Align your sales credentials to manufacturing verticals
Johnson Controls prioritizes enterprise sellers with direct experience in industrial, HVAC, or building management systems. Before applying, reframe your resume around large-account sales cycles and deal sizes relevant to manufacturing environments, not generic B2B experience.
Clarify your OPT or CPT timeline upfront
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your authorization end date before your first recruiter call. Johnson Controls hires for this role across multiple regions, and a short remaining OPT window can stall an offer while H-1B transfer paperwork is prepared.
Target open roles in Johnson Controls' industrial verticals
Search Migrate Mate to filter Enterprise Account Executive openings at Johnson Controls by location and sponsorship type, helping you prioritize roles in regions where their manufacturing and building solutions business is most active.
Prepare for a multi-round enterprise sales interview
Johnson Controls Enterprise AE interviews typically include a deal review and a stakeholder presentation exercise. Prepare a walkthrough of a complex, multi-site deal you closed, emphasizing procurement timelines and technical alignment, which mirrors their actual sales motion.
Understand how LCA prevailing wage applies to your region
Your H-1B offer must meet DOL prevailing wage for the specific metro where you'll be based. For a national sales role, confirm which office location anchors your LCA filing, since wage floors differ significantly between markets.
Request written confirmation of H-1B cap-subject status
If you're entering the H-1B lottery rather than transferring an existing H-1B, confirm with Johnson Controls' HR team whether your petition will be cap-subject or cap-exempt before accepting an offer. This determines your earliest possible start date under USCIS processing timelines.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Johnson Controls sponsor H-1B visas for Enterprise Account Executives?
Yes, Johnson Controls sponsors H-1B visas for Enterprise Account Executive roles. This function is classified as a specialty occupation under USCIS guidelines, typically supported by a degree in business, engineering, or a related field. If you're already on an H-1B with another employer, Johnson Controls can file an H-1B transfer, letting you start work once the transfer petition is received by USCIS.
How do I apply for Enterprise Account Executive jobs at Johnson Controls?
You can apply directly through Johnson Controls' careers portal or through Migrate Mate, which lists their open Enterprise Account Executive roles filtered by visa sponsorship availability. When applying, tailor your materials to their building technology and industrial automation segments. Roles are distributed across major U.S. metros, so filtering by location helps you find positions aligned with your target market.
Which visa types does Johnson Controls commonly use for Enterprise Account Executive roles?
Johnson Controls sponsors H-1B, TN visa, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1 visa, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for this role. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals whose degrees align with the position. For longer-term candidates, PERM-based Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 is a realistic path once you've established tenure in the role.
What qualifications does Johnson Controls expect for Enterprise Account Executive candidates?
Johnson Controls typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a technical field, combined with demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles. Familiarity with building management systems, HVAC infrastructure, or industrial automation platforms is a strong differentiator. For visa sponsorship purposes, your degree field should map clearly to the role's technical or commercial responsibilities to support the specialty occupation classification.
How do I time my H-1B sponsorship if I receive an offer from Johnson Controls?
If you're cap-subject, USCIS only accepts H-1B petitions in April for an October 1 start date, so your offer timing relative to the annual lottery window matters significantly. If you're currently on OPT, a timely H-1B filing before your OPT expires allows you to maintain continuous work authorization through the cap-gap provision. Confirm these dates with Johnson Controls' immigration team as early as the offer stage.
