Tailor your resume to industrial sales metrics
Johnson Controls hires Sales Account Executives who can demonstrate territory management and quota attainment in B2B or industrial environments. Quantify your pipeline value and client retention results before applying, since hiring managers screen for these signals first.
Target open roles in HVAC and building technologies
Johnson Controls staffs Sales Account Executives across fire, security, HVAC, and building automation product lines. Roles tied to these divisions appear most frequently, so filter your search by business unit to find positions where sponsorship has historically been approved.
Clarify sponsorship eligibility before your first interview
Ask your recruiter directly whether the specific role and location are eligible for H-1B or TN sponsorship. Some sales territories or commission structures can complicate prevailing wage determinations that DOL requires for the Labor Condition Application.
Align your degree field to the specialty occupation standard
USCIS requires H-1B roles to qualify as specialty occupations. For a sales role at a manufacturing company, a degree in business, engineering, or a technical field relevant to Johnson Controls' product lines strengthens your petition against a generic sales title.
Understand how PERM timing affects long-term sponsorship
If Johnson Controls commits to Green Card sponsorship through PERM, the DOL recruitment and audit process typically adds 12 to 18 months before an I-140 petition can be filed. Factor this into your H-1B status timeline so you're not caught between expiration and approval.
Browse Johnson Controls openings on Migrate Mate
Filter by Sales Account Executive roles and visa type on Migrate Mate to see which Johnson Controls positions are actively open to sponsored candidates. This lets you apply to roles where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than screening for it ad hoc.

Find Sales Account Executive at Johnson Controls JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Johnson Controls sponsor H-1B visas for Sales Account Executives?
Yes, Johnson Controls sponsors H-1B visas for Sales Account Executive roles. The role needs to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, which means your degree field should align with the technical or commercial nature of the position. Roles tied to HVAC, building automation, or fire and security product lines tend to have a clearer specialty occupation justification than general sales titles.
How do I apply for Sales Account Executive jobs at Johnson Controls?
Applications go through Johnson Controls' careers portal, but you can browse verified open roles with sponsorship confirmed on Migrate Mate before applying. Tailor your application to the specific product line or division listed in the job description, whether that's fire and security, HVAC, or building technologies. Highlighting B2B sales experience in industrial or commercial environments will carry the most weight with hiring teams.
Which visa types does Johnson Controls commonly sponsor for Sales Account Executive roles?
Johnson Controls sponsors H-1B visas as the primary pathway for Sales Account Executives who need work authorization. F-1 OPT and CPT are also supported for recent graduates in pre-hire or internship phases. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying roles. For long-term employees, Johnson Controls has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card petitions through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does Johnson Controls expect for Sales Account Executive roles?
Johnson Controls typically looks for a bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a technical field relevant to their product lines, combined with demonstrated B2B sales experience. Territory management, consultative selling, and familiarity with building systems or industrial solutions are recurring expectations. For H-1B sponsorship purposes, your degree field should connect meaningfully to the specific division you're applying for, since USCIS scrutinizes the degree-to-role relationship in sales petitions.
How do I time my application if my OPT or H-1B is expiring soon?
If you're on F-1 OPT, the H-1B cap-subject lottery runs once a year with registrations opening in March and an October 1 start date for approved petitions. If your OPT expires before October 1, a STEM OPT extension can bridge the gap, provided your degree qualifies. For H-1B holders changing employers, Johnson Controls can file a transfer petition and you're authorized to work as soon as USCIS receives it, within the 60-day portability window.
