Align your degree to specialty occupation standards
Medtronic's Sales Specialist roles in medical devices typically require a degree in life sciences, biomedical engineering, or a related technical field. A business degree alone may not satisfy USCIS specialty occupation requirements, so document how your credentials connect to the clinical or technical nature of the role.
Target divisions with active field territories
Medtronic structures Sales Specialists by product division and geographic territory. Focusing your search on divisions with open territories, such as cardiac rhythm, spine, or diabetes, increases your odds of reaching a hiring manager with budget and urgency to move a sponsorship forward.
Clarify sponsorship before accepting any offer
Ask your recruiter directly whether the offer includes H-1B sponsorship or employer-sponsored Green Card support before signing. Medtronic's sponsorship decisions can vary by division and business unit, so confirm the specific team's policy in writing rather than assuming company-wide practice applies.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by visa type
Searching for Sales Specialist openings at Medtronic is faster when you can filter by sponsorship eligibility. Migrate Mate lets you surface roles at Medtronic that match your visa situation, so you spend time on applications that are actually within reach.
Understand how OPT timing interacts with H-1B filing windows
If you're on F-1 OPT, the H-1B lottery filing window opens in March for an October 1 start date. Medtronic needs to register you in the lottery before that deadline, so start conversations with recruiters no later than January to give HR enough lead time to process your paperwork.
Prepare for the PERM process if pursuing a Green Card
Medtronic sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for Sales Specialists, but the DOL's PERM labor certification process requires the employer to advertise the role and demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers were displaced. Expect this process to begin after you've established tenure, not at the point of hire.

Find Sales Specialist at Medtronic JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Medtronic sponsor H-1B visas for Sales Specialists?
Yes, Medtronic sponsors H-1B visas for Sales Specialist roles. The company participates in the annual H-1B lottery, which USCIS runs each spring for an October 1 start date. Because Sales Specialists at Medtronic work closely with clinical and technical products, the roles are generally defensible as specialty occupations, though your degree field needs to align with the specific product division you're hired into.
How do I apply for Sales Specialist jobs at Medtronic?
Applications go through Medtronic's careers portal at jobs.medtronic.com. Search by job title and filter by the product division or geography that matches your background. Migrate Mate also aggregates open Sales Specialist roles at Medtronic and lets you filter by visa sponsorship eligibility, which helps you identify positions where sponsorship is actively supported before you invest time in the application.
Which visa types does Medtronic commonly use for Sales Specialist roles?
Medtronic sponsors H-1B visas for full-time Sales Specialist hires and supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students transitioning into the role. For candidates pursuing permanent residency, the company has a track record of sponsoring EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards. TN visas are also an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals whose role qualifies under USMCA professional categories.
What qualifications does Medtronic expect for Sales Specialist roles?
Medtronic typically looks for a bachelor's degree in life sciences, biomedical engineering, nursing, or a related clinical or technical field. Hands-on experience with medical devices, surgical settings, or patient-facing clinical environments is valued. Some divisions, particularly in cardiac rhythm management or surgical robotics, expect familiarity with OR or cath lab protocols. Prior quota-carrying sales experience in medical devices strengthens your candidacy significantly.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take after receiving an offer from Medtronic?
If you're on F-1 OPT and need an H-1B, Medtronic must register you in the USCIS lottery in March for an October 1 start. If selected, USCIS standard processing runs three to five months. Premium processing reduces that to roughly 15 business days. For Green Card sponsorship via PERM, the full process from DOL labor certification through I-140 approval typically takes one to three years depending on your priority date and country of birth.
