The Suicide Prevention Coalition (SPC) Coordinator plays a vital role in advancing community efforts to reduce suicide rates and promote mental health awareness. Duties
- Advance the coalition by recruiting additional members
- Staying up-to-date and tracking on suicide-related data and research, suicide prevention strategies and recommendations, as well as innovative strategies in the field
- Develop and deliver educational workshops and presentations on topics such as mental health awareness, stigma reduction, and crisis intervention
- Building and providing new education and awareness campaigns
- Assist with coordination of Suicide Prevention fundraisers
- Lead the planning, development, and execution of coalition meetings and community events focused on suicide prevention
- Foster partnerships with local organizations, healthcare providers, schools, and community groups to enhance collaborative efforts
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social work, public health, nursing, or a related field preferred
- Clearance of state and federal background checks
- Possesses excellent interpersonal skills; able to get along well with a diverse group of clients, co-workers, and team members
- Dependability, professionalism, and excellent organizational skills
- Ability to take initiative, multi-task and prioritize tasks and projects
- Demonstrates positive, collaborative approach to work, including a commitment to problem solving
- Knowledge of local human service agencies and services
- Ability to exhibit leadership with volunteers and professionals
- Commitment to the importance of mental wellness, advocacy, recovery, and to the mission of MHALC
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to write routine reports, emails, and correspondence
- Able to maintain a professional appearance at all times
- Able to meet deadlines and prioritize work based on client and management needs
- Passionate about community engagement with a proactive approach to building collaborative networks dedicated to suicide prevention.
