Target engineering and embedded systems roles
Microchip Technology's sponsorship activity is concentrated in technical disciplines like firmware, hardware design, and silicon engineering. Focusing your search on these core functions gives you the strongest chance of landing a sponsored role.
Understand which visa types they support
Microchip sponsors H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1, and Green Card pathways. If you're on OPT or CPT, you're already on a visa type they actively work with, mention your authorization status clearly in your application.
Apply early in the H-1B cap season
As an active H-1B sponsor, Microchip typically files petitions ahead of the April cap deadline. Targeting open roles between January and March gives your application the best chance of being included in that cycle.
Highlight domain-specific technical skills
Microchip values deep expertise in microcontrollers, analog design, and embedded software. Tailoring your resume to reflect their product lines and technical stack signals you can contribute without a long ramp-up period.
Look for roles that align with Green Card sponsorship
Microchip has a consistent track record sponsoring both EB-2 and EB-3 petitions, which signals long-term investment in international hires. Senior engineering and specialized technical roles are most likely to come with that pathway. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history.
Check for opportunities in less competitive locations
Microchip operates facilities across multiple U.S. states beyond its Arizona headquarters. Roles in smaller offices or manufacturing sites may face less applicant competition while offering the same strong sponsorship support.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Microchip Technology sponsor H-1B visas?

Sponsorship is concentrated in engineering, software, and technical product roles. If you're targeting an H-1B, applying for roles in these departments gives you the strongest chance of being considered for sponsorship.
Which visa types does Microchip Technology sponsor?
Microchip Technology sponsors a broad range of visa types, including H-1B, TN visa, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1 visa, and permanent residence pathways through EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards. This range makes Microchip accessible to candidates at multiple stages of their immigration journey, from students on OPT to experienced engineers seeking long-term status.
Which departments or roles at Microchip Technology are most likely to get visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at Microchip Technology is strongest in technical roles, particularly those involving embedded systems, firmware development, analog and mixed-signal design, hardware engineering, and application engineering. Research and product development teams are also common sponsor departments. Roles that require specialized knowledge of microcontrollers or semiconductor design tend to align best with the company's sponsorship patterns.
What is the typical sponsorship timeline when applying to Microchip Technology?
For H-1B candidates, the process typically begins with offer acceptance well before the April 1 filing window, with employment starting October 1 at the earliest for cap-subject petitions. For OPT and CPT hires, timelines are more flexible. Green Card sponsorship, when offered, usually begins after a period of full-time employment and involves both PERM labor certification and an I-140 petition, which can take a year or more in total.
How do I find open visa-sponsored jobs at Microchip Technology?
