Job Roles at NerdWallet Companies
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in NerdWallet Visa Sponsorship USA
Target engineering and data roles first
NerdWallet's sponsorship activity is concentrated in technical disciplines. Software engineers, data scientists, and product managers in its core fintech platform tend to be the strongest candidates for visa sponsorship consideration when applying.
Prepare for fintech-specific technical interviews
NerdWallet builds consumer-facing financial tools, so technical interviews often blend software engineering fundamentals with product thinking. Coming in with knowledge of the personal finance space signals genuine interest and strengthens your overall candidacy.
Ask about immigration support early in the process
NerdWallet has shown consistent sponsorship activity, so the question is rarely whether they sponsor, but how the process works internally. Ask the recruiter about their immigration counsel and timeline expectations before reaching the offer stage.
Align your background with NerdWallet's specialty occupation criteria
For H-1B eligibility, your degree must directly relate to the role. At a fintech company like NerdWallet, degrees in computer science, data science, finance, or related fields typically satisfy the specialty occupation standard most cleanly.
Use Migrate Mate to find current openings with verified sponsorship history
Sponsorship willingness can shift with hiring cycles. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and find active NerdWallet openings where visa support is a realistic part of the offer.

Does NerdWallet sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, NerdWallet sponsors H-1B visas. The company has a consistent track record of supporting H-1B petitions, particularly for technical roles in software engineering and data. If you're pursuing an H-1B, focus your application on positions where your degree field directly aligns with the role's core requirements, which is a key eligibility factor for specialty occupation approval.
Which visa types does NerdWallet sponsor?
NerdWallet sponsors H-1B nonimmigrant visas as well as employment-based Green Cards, including EB-2 and EB-3 classifications. The TN visa has also appeared in its sponsorship activity, which may be relevant for Canadian and Mexican nationals working in qualifying professional categories. The specific visa type offered will depend on your role, qualifications, and immigration timeline.
Which departments or roles at NerdWallet are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at NerdWallet is most common in technical and specialized functions, including software engineering, data science, machine learning, and product management. These roles typically meet the specialty occupation standard required for H-1B approval. Finance and analytics positions may also qualify depending on degree alignment. Roles in general operations or non-specialized support functions are less likely to involve sponsorship.
What is the typical timeline for visa sponsorship at a company like NerdWallet?
For H-1B sponsorship, the standard cap-subject timeline means your employer files in March for an October 1 start date. NerdWallet would need to initiate the Labor Condition Application and petition process well ahead of that window. Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 typically takes longer, often one to several years depending on your country of birth and priority date backlog. Discuss timing with the recruiter before accepting an offer.
How do I find open roles at NerdWallet that include visa sponsorship?
The most reliable approach is to search for NerdWallet on Migrate Mate, which aggregates jobs from verified sponsors and lets you filter by visa type and sponsorship history. This saves time compared to manually cross-referencing job listings with public filing data. Once you identify a relevant opening, confirm sponsorship eligibility directly with the recruiter during your first conversation.
