With the onset of the global economy, its payments infrastructure is shaping how banks, fintechs, and businesses everywhere collect, convert, and disburse funds instantly across borders. Its payout network supports 100 currencies and spans 220+ markets, 100 of which in real-time. Funds can be disbursed to accounts, wallets, and cards and collected locally in 35 markets. Nium's growing card issuance business is already available in 34 countries. Nium holds regulatory licenses and authorizations in more than 40 countries, enabling seamless onboarding, rapid integration, and compliance – independent of geography. The company is co-headquartered in San Francisco and Singapore.
THE ROLE
You will be a senior individual contributor and de-facto product leader within Nium's Card Issuance team, owning a key segment of our B2B card product across the geographies we serve. You will drive the end-to-end product lifecycle—from discovery and roadmap through to launch and iteration—while shaping how emerging technologies such as AI tooling and stablecoins integrate with Nium's card platform. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role. You will partner closely with engineering, scheme relations, compliance, sales, and external programme clients to deliver world-class card experiences at scale.
Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Roadmap
- Own and evolve the Card Issuance product roadmap, balancing near-term client demands with long-term platform vision.
- Identify market opportunities in card-linked stablecoin settlement, AI-powered card controls, and embedded finance, and translate them into a prioritised backlog.
- Conduct competitive analysis and customer research to stay ahead of trends in card issuing, tokenisation, and digital money.
Technical Execution
- Write precise product requirements, API specs, and user stories for engineering teams building card authorisation, clearing, settlement, and lifecycle management flows.
- Drive integrations with card schemes (Visa, Mastercard, Discover), issuer processors, and digital wallet providers, ensuring compliance with scheme certification requirements.
- Partner with engineering to evaluate and integrate AI-powered tooling into card operations workflows—such as real-time fraud scoring, spend analytics, and automated dispute management.
- Lead the definition of stablecoin-to-card settlement flows, working with treasury, compliance, and engineering to design compliant, scalable infrastructure.
Stakeholder & Client Engagement
- Act as the primary product interface for strategic B2B clients, translating their card programme needs into platform requirements.
- Collaborate with Regulatory, Compliance, and Risk teams to understand market-specific requirements and embed them into the product.
- Partner with the Programme Manager, Solution Engineering, and Sales to ensure new card programmes are onboarded smoothly and leverage existing platform capabilities.
Data & Performance
- Define and monitor key card product KPIs (approval rates, dispute rates, time-to-card, revenue per card) and drive data-informed improvements.
- Champion data instrumentation across card features to enable self-serve analytics for internal and client-facing stakeholders.
- Leverage AI tools to accelerate insight generation, reduce manual overhead in PM workflows, and improve the quality and speed of product decision-making.
WHAT YOU BRING
Essential
- 6+ years of product management experience, with at least 3 years in card issuance, card processing, or a closely adjacent payments domain.
- Hands-on experience with card scheme protocols (Visa and/or Mastercard), transaction lifecycles (authorisation, clearing, settlement, chargebacks), and ISO 8583 messaging.
- Demonstrated ability to write detailed technical specifications and work shoulder-to-shoulder with engineering and architecture teams.
- Proven track record of launching and scaling card products internationally across multiple markets and regulatory environments.
- Strong command of AI productivity tools integrated into daily PM practice — including tools for requirements drafting, data analysis, user research synthesis, and workflow automation.
- Understanding of stablecoins: mechanics of fiat-backed stablecoins, mint/burn flows, on-chain settlement, and their applicability to card-based payment rails.
- Analytical rigour—comfortable forming and testing hypotheses with data, running A/B experiments, and defining success metrics before building.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills; able to present complex technical and regulatory trade-offs to senior leadership and external clients.
Highly Desirable
- Experience at a card issuer processor or a card network.
- Exposure to tokenisation (network tokenisation, digital wallets such as Apple Pay / Google Pay).
- Hands-on experience designing or launching a stablecoin-funded card or settlement product.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing e-money, prepaid cards, and digital assets across APAC, EU, or US markets.
- Experience working in a global, multi-timezone product team serving diverse B2B clients.
COMPENSATION
- Salary Range: $164,000 - $205,000 a year

Target roles in payments and fintech infrastructure
Nium's core business is cross-border payments and financial infrastructure, so engineering, product, and compliance roles in those areas are most likely to attract sponsorship consideration. Tailor your application to show direct experience in fintech or payments systems.
Understand that Nium sponsors selectively
Nium sponsors visas but does so on a selective basis rather than at high volume. Focus your outreach on roles where your skills are rare and highly relevant, since sponsorship decisions at companies like Nium are closely tied to specific hiring needs.
Highlight your H-1B or OPT status clearly
Nium has sponsored both H-1B and F-1 OPT candidates. Make your visa status and timeline explicit in your application materials so recruiters can assess sponsorship feasibility early, avoiding wasted time on both sides of the process.
Research Nium's open roles through verified sponsorship data
Before applying, confirm that the specific role you're targeting aligns with Nium's sponsorship history. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and focus only on positions where sponsorship is genuinely on the table.
Prepare for a compliance-aware hiring process
As a regulated financial services company, Nium's hiring process includes background checks and compliance reviews common in Banking and Financial Services. International candidates should be ready to provide documentation promptly and understand that timelines may extend accordingly.
Leverage your TN eligibility if you're Canadian or Mexican
Nium sponsors TN visas in addition to H-1B and OPT, which is a meaningful advantage for Canadian and Mexican professionals. TN sponsorship typically involves less lead time than H-1B, so emphasize your TN eligibility when reaching out to recruiters.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Nium sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Nium sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying roles in the United States. Sponsorship is selective and tied to specific hiring needs rather than offered broadly across all open positions. Candidates with specialized skills in fintech, payments infrastructure, engineering, or compliance are most likely to be considered for H-1B sponsorship at Nium.
Which visa types does Nium sponsor?
Nium sponsors H-1B visas, F-1 OPT extensions, and TN visas. This range makes the company relevant to a broad set of international professionals, including recent graduates on OPT, experienced workers seeking H-1B transfer or new sponsorship, and Canadian or Mexican nationals who qualify for TN status in eligible occupations.
Which departments or roles at Nium are most likely to offer visa sponsorship?
Based on Nium's business focus, roles in software engineering, product management, data, and financial compliance are the strongest candidates for sponsorship. Nium operates at the intersection of technology and financial services, so positions requiring specialized technical or regulatory expertise in payments and fintech infrastructure tend to attract the most sponsorship activity.
What is the typical application and sponsorship timeline at Nium?
Nium's hiring process follows a standard fintech pattern: recruiter screen, technical or domain assessment, and panel interviews, typically spanning four to eight weeks. For H-1B sponsorship, timing depends on your current status. If you need cap-subject H-1B filing, the annual April lottery deadline is the key constraint to plan around well in advance of your work authorization expiry.
How do I find and apply for visa-sponsored jobs at Nium?
The most reliable approach is to search for Nium specifically on a platform that filters by verified sponsorship history. Migrate Mate lets you browse open roles at companies with confirmed sponsorship records, so you can prioritize your applications toward positions where international candidates have a realistic path. From there, tailor your materials to Nium's fintech and payments focus before applying.
