Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
Compliance roles at law firms require a direct link between your degree field and the position. A general business degree may not satisfy USCIS specialty occupation criteria for a legal compliance analyst role. A compliance-specific or law-adjacent degree strengthens your petition significantly.
Target Paul Hastings through practice group alignment
Paul Hastings hires compliance professionals tied to specific practice areas like financial regulatory, anti-corruption, or data privacy. Framing your application around their active practice groups rather than sending a general compliance resume increases your chances of reaching a sponsoring hiring manager.
Research open roles using Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Paul Hastings compliance listings by visa sponsorship eligibility. This saves time that would otherwise be spent cold-applying to roles where sponsorship is uncertain, letting you focus on confirmed opportunities within their legal and compliance functions.
Clarify OPT or CPT authorization before your start date
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your STEM extension eligibility early. Legal services employers like Paul Hastings must be enrolled in E-Verify to authorize STEM OPT extensions, so verify that before your standard OPT period expires to avoid a gap in work authorization.
Negotiate H-1B filing timelines before accepting an offer
Paul Hastings compliance hiring sometimes runs through lateral and experienced-hire pipelines with longer onboarding timelines. Ask your recruiter directly whether they'll file for cap-subject H-1B in the next available registration window, so you can plan around the October 1 start date.
Prepare a compliance-specific experience narrative for your petition
H-1B petitions for compliance roles at law firms benefit from a clear employer letter tying your day-to-day duties to regulated legal practice areas. Generic job descriptions get more scrutiny from USCIS. Push for specificity in how your role description is drafted before filing.

Find Compliance at Paul Hastings JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Paul Hastings sponsor H-1B visas for Compliance roles?
Yes, Paul Hastings sponsors H-1B visas for Compliance positions. The firm has a documented history of filing across multiple visa categories for legal and compliance functions. If you're cap-subject, your employer would need to register you in the USCIS H-1B lottery during the annual March registration window, with an earliest start date of October 1.
How do I apply for Compliance jobs at Paul Hastings?
Applications go through the Paul Hastings careers portal, where roles are listed by practice group and office location. Compliance positions often sit under legal operations, risk management, or specific regulatory practices. Filtering by department helps you identify the right openings. Migrate Mate also aggregates Paul Hastings compliance listings that include visa sponsorship eligibility, making it easier to target confirmed opportunities without guesswork.
Which visa types does Paul Hastings commonly use for Compliance hires?
Paul Hastings sponsors a range of visa categories for Compliance roles, including H-1B, H-1B1 for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, TN for Canadian and Mexican professionals in qualifying compliance categories, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students. For longer-term pathways, the firm also supports EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card petitions for eligible candidates.
What qualifications does Paul Hastings expect for Compliance positions?
Most compliance roles at Paul Hastings require a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field such as law, finance, accounting, or a compliance-specific discipline. Positions supporting regulatory or anti-corruption practice groups often expect prior experience in legal services or financial institution compliance. Advanced degrees or professional certifications like CAMS or CCEP can strengthen your application for senior-level openings.
How do I time my application given H-1B lottery and filing deadlines?
The H-1B registration window typically opens in early March, with USCIS selecting registrations by late March. If selected, your employer files the full petition by June 30 for an October 1 start date. For compliance roles at Paul Hastings, starting your job search no later than January gives you time to secure an offer, allow the firm's immigration counsel to prepare your registration, and meet all filing deadlines without rushing.
