INTRODUCTION
PsiQuantum’s mission is to build the first useful quantum computers—machines capable of delivering the breakthroughs the field has long promised. Since our founding in 2016, our singular focus has been to build and deploy million-qubit, fault-tolerant quantum systems. Quantum computers harness the laws of quantum mechanics to solve problems that even the most advanced supercomputers or AI systems will never reach. Their impact will span energy, pharmaceuticals, finance, agriculture, transportation, materials, and other foundational industries. Our architecture and approach is based on silicon photonics. By leveraging the advanced semiconductor manufacturing industry—including partners like GlobalFoundries—we use the same high-volume processes that already produce billions of chips for telecom and consumer electronics. Photonics offers natural advantages for scale: photons don’t feel heat, are immune to electromagnetic interference, and integrate with existing cryogenic cooling and standard fiber-optic infrastructure. In 2024, PsiQuantum announced government-funded projects to support the build-out of our first utility-scale quantum computers in Brisbane, Australia, and Chicago, Illinois. These initiatives reflect a growing recognition that quantum computing will be strategically and economically defining—and that now is the time to scale. PsiQuantum also develops the algorithms and software needed to make these systems commercially valuable. Our application, software, and industry teams work directly with leading Fortune 500 companies—including Lockheed Martin, Mercedes-Benz, Boehringer Ingelheim, and Mitsubishi Chemical—to prepare quantum solutions for real-world impact. Quantum computing is not an extension of classical computing. It represents a fundamental shift—and a path to mastering challenges that cannot be solved any other way. The potential is enormous, and we have a clear path to make it real. Come join us.

Tailor your portfolio to cryogenic hardware
PsiQuantum's Mechanical Engineers typically work on ultra-low temperature systems and precision optical assemblies. Highlight any experience with cryostats, vacuum chambers, or tolerance-critical fabrication in your resume and portfolio before you apply.
Verify your OPT timeline before submitting
F-1 OPT gives you 12 months of work authorization, with a 24-month STEM extension if your degree qualifies. Confirm your program's STEM designation with your DSO early so you can accurately represent your available start window to PsiQuantum's recruiting team.
Target roles that match your visa category
PsiQuantum sponsors multiple visa types, but not every open role will appear in the same place. Use Migrate Mate to filter Mechanical Engineer openings at PsiQuantum by visa type so you're only applying to roles where your sponsorship pathway is already confirmed.
Understand LCA prevailing wage before negotiating
For H-1B and E-3 roles, your employer files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL certifying your salary meets the prevailing wage for your location and occupation level. Knowing this floor protects you from undervalued offers and helps you negotiate from an informed position.
Get your engineering credentials evaluated early
If your mechanical engineering degree is from outside the U.S., PsiQuantum's HR and immigration team will need a credential evaluation confirming U.S. equivalency. Order a NACES-member evaluation before your offer stage so it doesn't delay your I-129 or visa application filing.
Ask directly about cap-exempt petition timing
PsiQuantum is a private tech company and is cap-subject for H-1B, meaning your petition enters the annual lottery. Clarify with the recruiter whether they plan to file in the April registration window so you can align your job search timeline accordingly.

Find Mechanical Engineer at PsiQuantum JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does PsiQuantum sponsor H-1B visas for Mechanical Engineers?
Yes, PsiQuantum sponsors H-1B visas for Mechanical Engineer roles. As a private technology company, PsiQuantum is cap-subject, so H-1B petitions are entered into the annual USCIS lottery with a registration window in March and an October 1 start date if selected. If you're currently on OPT or another status, discuss timing with your recruiter early in the process.
How do I apply for Mechanical Engineer jobs at PsiQuantum?
You can browse and apply for Mechanical Engineer positions at PsiQuantum through their careers page or through Migrate Mate, which filters open roles by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm sponsorship eligibility before applying. When you apply, tailor your materials to PsiQuantum's focus areas, particularly cryogenic systems, precision mechanical design, and photonic hardware integration.
Which visa types does PsiQuantum commonly use for Mechanical Engineer roles?
PsiQuantum sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and J-1 visas for engineering positions. Australian citizens should ask specifically about the E-3 pathway, which has no lottery and allows two-year renewals. Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering disciplines can explore the TN visa, which permits employment without a petition approval wait.
What qualifications does PsiQuantum expect for Mechanical Engineer roles?
PsiQuantum's Mechanical Engineer openings typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering or a closely related field, which is also the baseline required for H-1B specialty occupation classification. Practical experience with cryogenic systems, cleanroom fabrication, precision assembly, or photonic packaging is frequently listed as preferred. Graduate-level candidates with research backgrounds in quantum or semiconductor hardware are especially competitive.
How do I plan my timeline if I need visa sponsorship at PsiQuantum?
Timeline depends on your current status. F-1 students should secure a role before OPT authorization expires and confirm whether a STEM extension applies to their degree program. H-1B candidates need to account for the March lottery registration and October 1 start date. E-3 applicants can move faster, often completing consular processing within a few weeks of receiving a certified LCA from PsiQuantum's legal team.
