Align your credentials to Sanmina's manufacturing context
Sanmina operates across PCB fabrication, systems integration, and complex assembly. Frame your resume around process improvement, yield optimization, or lean manufacturing experience so your background maps directly to their production environment.
Target sites with high engineering headcount
Sanmina runs facilities across the U.S., but not every site has the same hiring volume for Operations Engineers. Search by location and filter for plants tied to defense, medical, or industrial segments, where specialized engineering roles are more consistently staffed.
Confirm OPT STEM extension eligibility before applying
Operations Engineering at a hardware manufacturer like Sanmina typically falls under STEM-designated fields. If you're on F-1 OPT, verify your degree's CIP code qualifies for the 24-month STEM extension before your initial 12 months expire.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Operations Engineer roles at Sanmina
Sanmina posts roles across multiple job boards inconsistently. Use Migrate Mate to browse verified Operations Engineer openings at Sanmina that are confirmed to consider visa sponsorship, so you're not applying blind on roles that exclude international candidates.
Prepare for PERM if you're targeting long-term status
EB-2 and EB-3 green card paths for Operations Engineers require DOL PERM labor certification, which means Sanmina must document that no qualified U.S. worker was available. Start that conversation with your hiring manager well before your H-1B enters its third year.

Find Operations Engineer at Sanmina JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Sanmina sponsor H-1B visas for Operations Engineers?
Yes, Sanmina sponsors H-1B visas for Operations Engineers. As a large electronics manufacturing company with engineering roles across multiple U.S. facilities, Sanmina has an established process for H-1B petitions. If you're in the H-1B lottery pool, confirm with the recruiting team early whether your specific site and role are approved for sponsorship, since not every position or location operates the same way.
How do I apply for Operations Engineer jobs at Sanmina?
You can apply through Sanmina's careers portal or find verified openings that include visa sponsorship through Migrate Mate. When applying, tailor your application to highlight manufacturing process experience relevant to Sanmina's electronics and hardware segments. Follow up directly with the recruiter to confirm sponsorship eligibility before investing time in the full interview process.
Which visa types does Sanmina commonly use for Operations Engineer roles?
Sanmina sponsors H-1B visas for Operations Engineers as the primary long-term work authorization pathway. F-1 OPT and CPT are also supported, making Sanmina accessible to recent graduates in STEM-designated programs. For candidates already outside the H-1B cap, TN status is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals whose roles qualify. Green Card sponsorship via EB-2 or EB-3 is available for longer-tenure employees.
What qualifications does Sanmina look for in Operations Engineer candidates?
Sanmina typically looks for a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related field. Hands-on experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or process controls in an electronics or hardware production environment strengthens your application significantly. Familiarity with ERP systems and quality management frameworks like ISO or IPC standards is commonly expected at the mid-level and above.
How do I know if my visa status is compatible with Sanmina's hiring timeline?
Compatibility depends on when your current authorization expires relative to Sanmina's hiring cycle. H-1B cap filings happen once per year, with a registration window in March and an October 1 start date. If your OPT expires before October 1, Sanmina would need to bridge you or file under a cap-exempt scenario. USCIS premium processing, which currently runs 15 business days, can accelerate petition adjudication if timing is tight.
