Certify Your Electronics Credentials Before Applying
IPC certification, especially IPC-A-610 for acceptability of electronic assemblies, is a recognized credential in contract electronics manufacturing. Sanmina's technician roles involve PCB inspection and soldering standards, so having documented certifications strengthens your profile before you submit an application.
Target Sanmina Sites With Active Production Contracts
Sanmina operates manufacturing facilities across the U.S. with workloads tied to defense, medical, and industrial electronics contracts. Sites with active production ramps tend to have more urgent technician hiring, which translates to faster movement through the sponsorship process after an offer is extended.
Clarify Your Work Authorization Status Early
Sanmina is an E-Verify employer, so your eligibility to work is confirmed during onboarding. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your STEM OPT extension timeline with your DSO before your interview so you can give the recruiter an accurate picture of your available work window.
Understand How TN Status Applies to This Role
Canadian and Mexican nationals can pursue TN status for certain engineering and technical roles, but the job title and duties must fit a qualifying USMCA category. Confirm with the hiring team whether the specific Manufacturing Technician position is structured in a way that supports a TN classification before accepting an offer.
Align Your Resume to DOL Prevailing Wage Expectations
For H-1B or PERM-based sponsorship, DOL prevailing wage requirements are tied to your job duties and work location. Framing your experience around specific technical functions in electronics manufacturing, rather than general assembly language, helps ensure the role is classified at the right wage level from the start.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Sanmina sponsor H-1B visas for Manufacturing Technicians?
Sanmina does sponsor H-1B visas, and Manufacturing Technician roles are among the positions for which sponsorship has been filed. Because H-1B requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, the specific job duties and required education level matter. Roles with a clear degree requirement in a relevant technical field, such as electronics engineering technology, are more likely to support H-1B classification than general assembly positions.
How do I apply for Manufacturing Technician jobs at Sanmina?
Applications go through Sanmina's careers portal, where you can filter by location and job function. Before applying, confirm the posting explicitly mentions visa sponsorship or that the site is actively hiring for contract-based production work. Migrate Mate lists Sanmina's open Manufacturing Technician roles filtered by sponsorship eligibility, which removes the guesswork about whether your immigration status will be considered.
Which visa types does Sanmina commonly use for Manufacturing Technician roles?
Sanmina has sponsored Manufacturing Technicians across several visa categories, including H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN visa, J-1 visa, and employment-based Green Card pathways such as EB-2 and EB-3. F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates from U.S. engineering technology programs. H-1B and EB-3 are more typical for longer-term sponsorship, particularly for technicians in skilled manufacturing or inspection roles.
What qualifications does Sanmina expect for Manufacturing Technician positions?
Sanmina's technician roles in electronics manufacturing typically require hands-on experience with PCB assembly, soldering, or electronic testing equipment. An associate's or bachelor's degree in electronics technology, electrical engineering, or a related field is often expected. IPC certifications, familiarity with ERP systems used in production environments, and experience working within ISO or AS9100 quality standards are practical differentiators that come up consistently in these postings.
How long does the sponsorship and hiring process take for these roles?
If you're on F-1 OPT, onboarding can happen relatively quickly since no USCIS filing is required upfront. H-1B sponsorship requires filing during the annual cap season, with an October 1 start date if selected in the lottery, meaning offers made in early spring may involve a wait of several months. EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through PERM is a longer process, often running one to three years depending on your country of birth and the labor certification timeline.
