Align your credentials to Arizona requirements
Arizona requires state-issued teaching certification, and your foreign credentials must be evaluated for equivalency before SUSD can file any visa petition. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved agency early so your degree maps cleanly to the required licensure level.
Target subject areas with persistent shortages
Scottsdale Unified consistently posts openings in special education, bilingual instruction, and STEM disciplines. Applying into these high-need areas puts you in front of hiring managers who are more motivated to move quickly through sponsorship paperwork than for generalist roles.
Understand the school district H-1B timeline
School districts operate on academic-year hiring cycles, which compresses the window between offer and start date. If you need a new H-1B cap-subject petition, USCIS premium processing gives you a 15-business-day adjudication window that fits within a district's onboarding schedule.
Clarify TN eligibility for your teaching category
Canadian and Mexican nationals can enter on TN status for certain education roles, but the position must map to an approved USMCA occupation category. Confirm with your HR contact that the specific job description supports TN classification before accepting an offer contingent on that status.
Ask HR about the district's LCA filing process early
SUSD's HR team handles the DOL Labor Condition Application as the first step in any H-1B petition. Asking about their internal process timeline during the offer stage tells you how experienced the team is and surfaces any delays before you've committed to a start date.
Browse open roles through Migrate Mate
Spotting which Teaching positions at Scottsdale Unified are actively posted is the first practical step. Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by visa type so you only spend time on positions that align with your current status or sponsorship needs.

Find Teaching at Scottsdale Unified School District JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Scottsdale Unified School District sponsor H-1B visas for Teachers?
Yes, Scottsdale Unified School District has sponsored H-1B visas for teaching roles. As a public school district, SUSD qualifies as a cap-exempt H-1B employer, which means petitions can be filed at any time of year rather than waiting for the annual April lottery window. This makes the process significantly more predictable for both the district and the candidate.
How do I apply for Teaching jobs at Scottsdale Unified School District?
Open Teaching positions at Scottsdale Unified are posted on the district's official careers portal. You can also browse visa-sponsorship-eligible Teaching roles at SUSD through Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa type. Before applying, confirm your Arizona teaching certification status or credential evaluation is in order, as SUSD requires state licensure for most classroom positions.
Which visa types does Scottsdale Unified School District support for Teaching roles?
Scottsdale Unified has worked with H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visa holders in teaching roles. H-1B is the most common path for long-term placement. OPT and CPT work for candidates still within their F-1 program window, and TN is available to qualifying Canadian and Mexican nationals whose role maps to an approved USMCA occupation category.
What qualifications does Scottsdale Unified School District expect for Teaching positions?
SUSD requires Arizona state teaching certification for most K-12 classroom roles. International candidates need a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved agency to confirm their degree is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's or higher in the relevant subject area. Subject-matter endorsements in shortage areas like special education, bilingual instruction, or secondary STEM improve your candidacy considerably.
How do I navigate the visa sponsorship timeline when accepting a Teaching offer from Scottsdale Unified?
School districts work on academic-year schedules, so timing matters. For H-1B petitions, ask HR when they plan to file and whether they use USCIS premium processing to hit your start date. If you're on OPT, confirm your authorization end date aligns with the school year start. Cap-exempt status means SUSD can file year-round, removing the lottery delay from the equation.
