Obtain security clearance eligibility early
Many Shield AI Electrician roles require eligibility for DoD security clearances. As a foreign national, confirm your status is compatible before applying. Certain visa categories affect clearance eligibility, and knowing this upfront prevents wasted effort late in the hiring process.
Align your credentials with NEC standards
Shield AI's defense facilities expect familiarity with the National Electrical Code and military construction specifications. Getting your credentials documented and verified against these standards before interviews signals you're ready to work without additional onboarding time.
Target Shield AI's facility expansion locations
Shield AI operates and expands facilities in Virginia, California, and Texas. Focusing your application on these states improves your odds, since high-volume hiring locations are more likely to have active sponsorship infrastructure and faster offer timelines for skilled trades.
Understand how EB-3 filing works for trades
Electrician roles at Shield AI typically fall under EB-3 skilled worker classification. Before accepting an offer, ask whether the employer will initiate PERM labor certification through DOL. This process can take a year or more, so understanding where you'd enter the queue matters.
Use Migrate Mate to identify active Electrician openings
Shield AI posts Electrician roles across multiple facilities at different times. Use Migrate Mate to filter and track open positions specifically tagged for visa sponsorship, so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is confirmed rather than assumed.
Negotiate sponsorship terms before signing an offer
Once Shield AI extends an offer, confirm in writing which visa category they'll file, who pays filing fees, and whether they'll cover attorney costs. TN and EB-2 or EB-3 filings involve distinct timelines and employer obligations, and ambiguity at this stage creates problems later.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Shield AI sponsor H-1B visas for Electricians?
Shield AI's visa sponsorship for Electrician roles is more commonly associated with employment-based Green Card pathways like EB-2 and EB-3 than with H-1B visa. Electrician positions are typically classified as skilled trades, which aligns better with EB-3 labor certification through DOL's PERM process. If you're already on an F-1 OPT or TN visa status, Shield AI has also sponsored those categories for technical and skilled roles.
Which visa types are commonly used for Electrician roles at Shield AI?
Shield AI has sponsored Electrician candidates through EB-2, EB-3, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and J-1 visa pathways. For most internationally hired Electricians, EB-3 is the most practical long-term route since it covers skilled workers without requiring a graduate degree. TN is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying occupations, though Electricians must confirm their role meets the USMCA TN classification criteria.
How do I apply for Electrician jobs at Shield AI?
You can browse and apply for Electrician openings at Shield AI through Migrate Mate, which filters jobs by visa sponsorship eligibility so you're only seeing roles where sponsorship is supported. When applying, tailor your resume to reflect experience with defense or aerospace electrical systems, NEC compliance, and any clearance-relevant background. Shield AI's hiring process for trades roles typically includes a technical screen and a site-specific interview.
What qualifications does Shield AI expect for Electrician candidates?
Shield AI looks for Electricians with hands-on experience in industrial or mission-critical environments, familiarity with the National Electrical Code, and ideally some background in aerospace, defense, or government facility work. A journeyman electrician license is typically required, and experience reading construction or engineering drawings is a strong advantage. Security clearance eligibility is a factor for many of their facility-based positions.
How do I understand the timeline for visa sponsorship after an Electrician offer from Shield AI?
Timeline depends heavily on the visa category. F-1 OPT authorization is already in place if you're a current student, so work can begin quickly. TN status for eligible nationals can be processed at the border or port of entry, often in a single day. EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through PERM is a longer process: DOL labor certification alone can take 12 to 18 months, followed by USCIS petition processing. Confirm which pathway Shield AI intends before signing.
