- Support small production runs of high-value products, including occasional hands-on involvement to validate and refine manufacturing processes.
- Establish and continuously improve production workflows, tooling, fixtures, and assembly methods.
- Act as the primary manufacturing interface for engineering teams, providing input on DFM, and DFA.
Quality Systems & Compliance:
- Operate within and help maintain an ISO 9001 compliant manufacturing environment.
- Develop manufacturing records, support test reports and build documentation to ensure traceability and repeatability.
- Support internal and external audits and drive corrective and preventive actions as needed.
- Collaborate with quality teams to ensure production meets defined quality and reliability requirements.
Production Environment & Operations:
- Establish and manage production infrastructure, including equipment selection, calibration, maintenance, and tooling procurement.
- Support production builds through quality control checks, non-conforming material handling, and troubleshooting.
- Support production planning, scheduling, and on-time delivery of assemblies.
Systems & Data:
- Support the implementation and use of ERP, PLM, and PDM systems to manage production data, BOMs, revisions, and work orders.
- Ensure alignment between engineering data and manufacturing execution.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 7–10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or production engineering, preferably in an optical, aerospace, defence, or other regulated industries.
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality systems.
- Demonstrated experience developing manufacturing processes, work instructions, and production documentation.
- Experience supporting low-volume, high-complexity, high-value products.
- Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven ability to establish or scale a production environment.
- Familiarity with ERP, PLM, and PDM systems.

Tailor your resume to defense manufacturing standards
Shield AI's Manufacturing Engineer roles emphasize production readiness for autonomous defense platforms. Frame your resume around AS9100 certification experience, DFM processes, and any work with DoD-adjacent hardware to signal immediate fit for their production environment.
Verify your security clearance eligibility early
Many Shield AI Manufacturing Engineer positions require or prefer a U.S. security clearance. Visa holders on F-1 OPT or TN status are typically ineligible for clearance, so confirm which roles are clearance-optional before applying to avoid wasting application cycles.
Target roles explicitly listing OPT or TN sponsorship
Shield AI's open Manufacturing Engineer positions vary in sponsorship scope. Use Migrate Mate to filter roles by visa type so you apply only to positions that match your current authorization category and sponsorship timeline.
Align your OPT start date with Shield AI's hiring cycle
F-1 OPT authorization takes up to 90 days from USCIS. If you're targeting a post-graduation start, file your EAD application well before your program end date to avoid a gap that disqualifies you from Shield AI's onboarding timeline.
Understand EB-2 and EB-3 timelines for long-term sponsorship
Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 requires PERM labor certification from DOL before USCIS can process the immigrant petition. For Indian nationals especially, priority date backlogs mean this process can span years, so factor that into your offer negotiation.
Prepare your credential documentation for specialty occupation review
Shield AI Manufacturing Engineer roles require a directly related engineering degree. If your degree is from a non-U.S. institution, obtain a credential evaluation from a NACES-member agency ahead of your offer stage so your employer's immigration counsel isn't delayed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Shield AI sponsor H-1B visas for Manufacturing Engineers?
Shield AI's sponsorship activity for Manufacturing Engineers is concentrated in employment-based Green Card categories (EB-2 and EB-3) along with F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN visa, and J-1 visa authorizations. H-1B visa sponsorship is not prominently featured in their recent hiring activity for this role, so confirm sponsorship scope directly with the recruiter before advancing in the process.
Which visa types are commonly used for Manufacturing Engineer roles at Shield AI?
Shield AI sponsors F-1 OPT and F-1 CPT for recent graduates, TN visas for qualified Canadian and Mexican engineers, and J-1 for eligible exchange visitors. For longer-term employment, EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship are available, typically initiated after an initial employment period and contingent on PERM labor certification approval from DOL.
What qualifications and experience does Shield AI expect for Manufacturing Engineer roles?
Shield AI Manufacturing Engineer positions typically require a bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, or aerospace engineering. Hands-on experience with production processes for complex electromechanical systems, familiarity with aerospace quality standards like AS9100, and exposure to DFM or DFA methodologies are consistently valued. Roles working on autonomous aircraft platforms may also expect experience in low-volume, high-precision production environments.
How do I apply for Manufacturing Engineer jobs at Shield AI?
Browse open Manufacturing Engineer positions at Shield AI filtered by visa sponsorship type on Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles specifically open to international candidates. Once you identify a match, apply directly through Shield AI's careers portal and flag your visa status early in the recruiter screen so sponsorship scope is confirmed before the technical interview stage.
How do I manage the timeline between my job offer and visa filing for a Manufacturing Engineer role at Shield AI?
Timeline depends on your visa category. F-1 OPT requires USCIS EAD approval before your start date, so allow up to 90 days. TN status for Canadians can be obtained at a port of entry the day you start, while Mexican nationals need consular processing. EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card paths involve multi-stage DOL and USCIS filings that typically run one to two years minimum before authorization is granted.
