Tailor your portfolio to autonomous systems
Skydio backend roles routinely involve real-time data processing, robotics infrastructure, and sensor data pipelines. Highlight projects where you built or scaled low-latency distributed systems, not just standard web backends, before you apply.
Clarify sponsorship scope in early recruiter calls
Skydio sponsors multiple visa categories, so ask the recruiter specifically whether your visa type is included for the backend role you're targeting. Not every role or team has identical sponsorship flexibility, even within the same company.
Align your offer timing with H-1B cap deadlines
H-1B cap registrations open in March each year through USCIS. If you're targeting a cap-subject H-1B, structure your offer and start date discussions with Skydio's recruiting team around that annual window.
Use Migrate Mate to find open backend roles at Skydio
Backend Software Engineer openings at Skydio with active visa sponsorship can shift quickly. Use Migrate Mate to filter and track current listings so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is confirmed, not assumed.
Prepare for security and export control screening
Skydio operates in aerospace and defense, so backend engineers may be subject to export control compliance reviews during the offer process. Confirm your visa status is compatible with any access requirements before final offer acceptance.

Find Backend Software Engineer at Skydio JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Skydio sponsor H-1B visas for Backend Software Engineers?
Yes, Skydio sponsors H-1B visas for Backend Software Engineers. The company has an established pattern of filing H-1B petitions for technical roles, including backend engineering positions. Because Skydio operates in the aerospace and defense sector, some roles may carry additional access or compliance requirements, so confirm sponsorship scope with the recruiter before advancing in the process.
How do I apply for Backend Software Engineer jobs at Skydio?
You can apply directly through Skydio's careers page or find open backend roles filtered by visa sponsorship on Migrate Mate. When applying, tailor your resume toward systems infrastructure, real-time data processing, or robotics-adjacent backend work, as these are the areas most relevant to Skydio's engineering stack. Mention visa sponsorship needs clearly in your recruiter screening call.
Which visa types does Skydio commonly use for Backend Software Engineer roles?
Skydio sponsors several visa categories for backend engineering roles, including H-1B, F-1 OPT (including STEM extension), TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, J-1, and Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. The right category depends on your nationality, education, and current status. H-1B and F-1 OPT are the most common starting points for international backend engineers.
What qualifications does Skydio expect for Backend Software Engineer roles?
Skydio backend roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field. Beyond credentials, the company prioritizes experience with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and high-throughput data pipelines. Familiarity with robotics or embedded systems is a differentiator, given Skydio's focus on autonomous drone platforms.
How do I time my application if I need H-1B sponsorship from Skydio?
The H-1B cap registration period runs in March each year through USCIS, with an October 1 start date for approved petitions. If you need a cap-subject H-1B, you'll want an offer in place before March so Skydio can include you in the registration window. Cap-exempt situations, such as a transfer from another H-1B employer, have more flexible timing.
