Align your credentials with defense clearance realities
Some Skydio engineering roles require U.S. government security clearances, which most visa holders can't obtain. Target roles in software, computer vision, and autonomy stacks that don't list clearance as a requirement before applying.
Map your degree to Skydio's core engineering disciplines
Skydio's engineering work spans robotics, embedded systems, and machine learning. Your degree field needs to match the specific role, not just engineering broadly. A degree in electrical engineering or computer science supports most of their posted positions.
Search Skydio engineering roles through Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters Skydio engineering jobs by visa type, so you can identify which open roles are actively listed with sponsorship rather than cold-applying and asking HR later.
Ask about LCA filing scope during the offer stage
Skydio has locations in multiple states. When you receive an offer, confirm with HR which worksite the Labor Condition Application will cover, since remote or hybrid arrangements require DOL-certified LCAs for each location where you'll work regularly.

Find Engineering at Skydio JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Skydio sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, Skydio sponsors H-1B visas for engineering roles. The company's work in autonomous systems, computer vision, and defense-adjacent software requires specialized technical talent, and they actively work with international candidates in these disciplines. Because H-1B approval depends on the specific role meeting specialty occupation criteria, roles with a required bachelor's degree in a directly related field are the strongest candidates for sponsorship.
Which visa types does Skydio commonly sponsor for Engineering roles?
Skydio sponsors H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1, and employment-based Green Cards including EB-2 and EB-3 for engineering positions. F-1 OPT and CPT are most common for candidates entering directly from U.S. graduate programs in robotics, electrical engineering, or computer science. TN visas are available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering occupations.
What qualifications does Skydio expect for Engineering roles?
Skydio's engineering roles generally require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field. Many positions, particularly in perception, autonomy, and embedded systems, expect hands-on experience with real-time systems, ROS, C++, or Python. Advanced degrees are common among candidates competing for roles on the core autonomy and machine learning teams.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at Skydio?
You can browse and apply for Skydio engineering roles through Migrate Mate, which filters open positions by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm sponsorship availability before applying. When you apply, tailor your resume to the specific technical stack listed in the job description. Skydio's engineering interview process typically includes a technical screen, coding or systems design exercises, and team interviews.
How do I plan my timeline for visa sponsorship at Skydio?
Timeline planning depends on your current status. If you're on OPT, confirm your expiration date against the H-1B cap filing window in April. H-1B petitions approved in the annual lottery take effect October 1, so any gap between OPT expiration and that date requires a cap-gap extension. For green card sponsorship through PERM, the full process from recruitment through USCIS adjudication often takes two years or more.
