INTRODUCTION
Help empower our global customers to connect to culture through their passions.
Why you’ll love this role:
StockX has redefined the global marketplace for culture — where buyers and sellers transact with confidence on an always-on digital exchange. We are building the next frontier of creator-driven, culturally rich commerce that blends excitement, community, expertise, and transaction in one platform. To power this next chapter, we are building a category-led organization where each major vertical operates with clear ownership, accountability, and cultural authority. The Director, Category Growth (General Manager) is the business owner of a major category vertical. This leader is accountable for the full P&L and long-term trajectory of their category — including supply growth, liquidity, demand activation, monetization, and marketplace health. You will operate as a true GM: setting vision, defining strategy, allocating resources, building a team, and driving cross-functional execution. You will represent your vertical at the leadership level and ensure that product, marketing, operations, and partnerships are aligned to unlock sustainable growth. This role is both entrepreneurial and executive — suited for a leader who wants to build and scale a culturally driven business within a high-impact marketplace.
What you’ll own:
Full-Stack Category P& L
- Own revenue, contribution margin, liquidity, and growth targets for your vertical
- Develop annual and multi-year business plans, forecasts, and investment cases
- Allocate resources across acquisition, retention, and engagement to maximize ROI
- Drive pricing, incentives, and promotional strategies aligned to marketplace health
Vertical Strategy & Market Leadership
- Define the long-term category vision, positioning, and competitive differentiation
- Identify expansion opportunities across adjacent segments, geographies, and seller tiers
- Establish scalable supply acquisition and retention strategies
- Continuously assess competitive dynamics and evolving cultural trends
Supply, Demand & Liquidity Engine
- Architect the playbook for acquiring, activating, and retaining high-value sellers and creators
- Ensure balanced marketplace dynamics between supply depth and demand velocity
- Partner with Growth and Marketing to stimulate demand moments and category engagement
- Implement structural improvements that increase conversion, retention, and monetization
Cross-Functional Executive Leadership
- Influence Product roadmap to improve seller tooling, pricing mechanics, discovery, and trust features
- Partner with Marketing to launch culturally relevant campaigns and high-impact moments
- Collaborate with Operations to optimize onboarding, seller support, and fulfillment performance
- Represent your vertical in executive planning, QBRs, and strategic reviews
Team & Organizational Build-Out
- Hire and develop Category Managers and supporting roles as the vertical scales
- Establish operating cadence, reporting frameworks, and performance management systems
- Build repeatable GTM playbooks that can be deployed across additional categories
- Foster a culture of accountability, experimentation, and community authenticity
Ecosystem & Community Stewardship
- Act as the senior face of StockX within your category’s ecosystem
- Build relationships with top sellers, shops, creators, and community leaders
- Ensure platform growth remains culturally credible and aligned with community norms
About you:
- 10+ years of experience in marketplace leadership, category general management, business development, or growth roles within consumer tech or two-sided platforms
- Demonstrated ownership of revenue or P&L-level outcomes
- Proven track record of scaling a vertical, marketplace segment, or new business line
- Strong executive presence and experience influencing cross-functional roadmaps
- Deep fluency in marketplace mechanics: liquidity, take rate, CAC/LTV, cohort behavior, supply elasticity
- Experienced people leader with a track record of building high-performing teams
- Deep connection to culture-driven or enthusiast categories
Why this role is different:
This is not a traditional category marketing or merchandising role. This is a vertical GM role with real business ownership. You will:
- Build and scale a culturally driven marketplace vertical from early-stage to maturity
- Directly influence product, pricing, and growth strategy
- Operate with executive visibility and measurable business accountability
- Create the blueprint for how category-led growth powers the future of StockX
COMPENSATION
- Pursuant to the Colorado Fair Pay Act, the base salary range in Colorado for this position is $160,000 to $200,000, plus opportunities for benefits (e.g., medical, dental), equity and discretionary bonuses. Compensation in other geographies may vary.

Focus on roles that align with Green Card sponsorship
StockX's sponsorship activity skews toward permanent residency rather than temporary work visas. Target roles in data, engineering, operations, or product where employers are more likely to commit to long-term sponsorship from the start.
Understand which visa types StockX actually files
StockX has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards, plus F-1 OPT and CPT. If you're on OPT, you may have a realistic entry point, especially in tech or operations roles that bridge into permanent sponsorship conversations.
Use OPT as a foot in the door
StockX accepts F-1 OPT and CPT, which lowers the barrier for recent graduates. Starting on OPT can position you for a longer-term sponsorship conversation once you've demonstrated value within the company's retail-tech environment.
Target the intersection of retail and technology
StockX operates at the crossroads of e-commerce, logistics, and data. Roles combining retail domain knowledge with technical skills, analytics, software, supply chain systems, tend to attract the most serious sponsorship consideration from companies like StockX.
Find verified sponsoring employers before you apply
Confirming a company's real sponsorship history before investing time in applications saves weeks of wasted effort. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by actual sponsorship history, including companies like StockX.
Tailor your application to StockX's culture and mission
StockX is deeply embedded in sneaker and streetwear culture. Candidates who demonstrate genuine familiarity with the brand, its marketplace model, and its community tend to stand out, which matters when a company is weighing sponsorship as part of a hiring decision.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does StockX sponsor H-1B visas?
Based on available filing data, StockX does not have a recent track record of H-1B visa sponsorship. The company's sponsorship activity has focused on Green Card pathways, specifically EB-2 and EB-3, along with F-1 OPT and CPT for students and recent graduates. If H-1B visa sponsorship is a requirement for your situation, it's worth clarifying directly with the hiring team during the process.
What visa types does StockX sponsor?
StockX sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards, which are permanent residency pathways typically tied to professional and skilled worker roles. The company also accepts F-1 OPT and CPT, making it accessible to international students completing U.S. degree programs. Candidates seeking temporary nonimmigrant visa sponsorship such as H-1B should confirm current policies directly with StockX's recruiting team.
Which departments or roles at StockX are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at StockX tends to follow roles requiring specialized skills that are harder to fill domestically. Engineering, data science, product management, and operations are the most common areas where employers in StockX's space commit to sponsorship. Roles in merchandising or customer support are less likely to attract Green Card sponsorship, though OPT hiring can be broader across departments.
How do I find open roles at StockX that offer visa sponsorship?
The most reliable approach is to search for StockX on Migrate Mate, which aggregates and verifies employer sponsorship history so you can confirm a company's track record before applying. From there, filter for roles matching your visa type, whether that's OPT-eligible positions or roles tied to Green Card sponsorship, and apply directly through StockX's careers page.
How do I navigate the sponsorship timeline when applying to StockX?
Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 is a multi-year process that typically begins after you've joined a company and demonstrated your value. If you're on F-1 OPT, your priority should be securing the role first, then initiating a conversation about long-term sponsorship once you're established. Raising sponsorship requirements early in the interview process is reasonable, most experienced recruiters at tech-adjacent retail companies expect it.
