Align your credentials to capital markets standards
TD Securities evaluates Business Development candidates against institutional finance benchmarks. A CFA designation, Series 79 or 63 licenses, or demonstrated experience in fixed income or equity origination strengthens your profile before you apply.
Target roles with cross-border client mandates
TD Securities Business Development teams frequently cover Canadian, U.S., and international institutional clients. Roles with explicit cross-border or global coverage mandates are more likely to justify the sponsorship case internally, so filter your search accordingly.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active sponsoring roles
Not every Business Development posting at TD Securities will advertise visa sponsorship explicitly. Browse Migrate Mate to identify which active openings at TD Securities are open to H-1B or E-3 candidates, so you're not wasting applications on roles that won't move forward.
Understand how LCA timing affects your start date
TD Securities must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting your H-1B petition to USCIS. LCA certification typically takes seven business days, so factor this into your negotiated start date when discussing an offer.
Position your book of business during interviews
Business Development hiring at investment banks heavily weights existing client relationships and deal pipeline potential. Prepare a clear narrative around the institutional client relationships or market segments you'd bring, since that directly strengthens the employer's internal case for sponsorship.
Confirm E-3 eligibility before the H-1B lottery window
If you hold Australian citizenship, the E-3 visa bypasses the H-1B cap entirely and can be processed at a U.S. consulate without waiting for the April lottery. Raise this with TD Securities' HR team early so they can route your petition correctly.

Find Business Development at TD Securities JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does TD Securities sponsor H-1B visas for Business Developments?
Yes, TD Securities sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development roles. As a large financial institution operating across U.S. and global capital markets, TD Securities has an established process for filing H-1B petitions, including Labor Condition Application submissions with the DOL. Business Development positions that require specialized finance knowledge, client coverage, or origination experience typically qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS criteria.
Which visa types does TD Securities commonly use for Business Development roles?
TD Securities sponsors H-1B visas for most international Business Development hires. Australian citizens can pursue the E-3 visa as a cap-exempt alternative, which avoids the H-1B lottery entirely. For candidates on a longer-term path, TD Securities also has a track record of supporting EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for employees who advance within the firm's capital markets or institutional coverage functions.
What qualifications and experience does TD Securities expect for Business Development roles?
TD Securities Business Development roles typically require a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related field, with graduate degrees or a CFA designation viewed favorably for senior coverage positions. Practical experience in institutional client management, fixed income, equity origination, or structured products is weighted heavily. Relevant FINRA licenses such as Series 79 or Series 63 are often expected before or shortly after joining.
How do I apply for Business Development jobs at TD Securities?
You can browse and apply for Business Development openings at TD Securities directly through the TD Securities careers portal. If you need visa sponsorship, use Migrate Mate to identify which active TD Securities Business Development roles are open to sponsored candidates before applying, so you're targeting openings where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than discovering limitations late in the process.
How do I plan my timeline if TD Securities offers me a Business Development role requiring H-1B sponsorship?
If you're starting from scratch on an H-1B, TD Securities must file during the April cap season for an October 1 start date. The DOL LCA certification comes first and takes roughly seven business days. USCIS then adjudicates the petition over several months unless premium processing is elected. Build at least six months of runway into your planning if you're not already in H-1B status with another employer.
