Align your portfolio to Thermo Fisher's product pipeline
Thermo Fisher hires Senior Product Development Managers across biologics, analytical instruments, and diagnostics. Review recent product launches and FDA clearances to frame your development experience around the specific business unit you're targeting before you apply.
Translate your degree field for specialty occupation review
H-1B approval for product development roles requires demonstrating a direct connection between your degree field and the job duties. A biomedical engineering or chemistry degree supports this cleanly; a general business degree typically does not without substantial technical coursework documentation.
Ask about sponsorship scope during the recruiter screen
Thermo Fisher sponsors both H-1B and employment-based Green Cards, but coverage depends on the business unit and whether the role is classified as a critical technical position. Confirm which pathways the specific hiring team has budget and precedent for before advancing.
Time your OPT STEM extension around Thermo Fisher's hiring cycles
Senior product development roles at Thermo Fisher often open in Q1 and Q3 alongside fiscal planning. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your STEM extension timeline with your DSO early so your work authorization covers the full onboarding window without a gap.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by sponsorship type
Thermo Fisher posts Senior Product Development Manager roles across multiple divisions, and not every posting reflects the same sponsorship willingness. Use Migrate Mate to surface and track roles that align with your visa category and target business unit.
Prepare your PERM documentation before the offer stage
If you're targeting an employment-based Green Card through Thermo Fisher, the PERM labor certification process through DOL requires extensive records of your qualifications and the recruitment process. Gathering your transcripts, foreign credential evaluations, and employment verification letters before an offer accelerates the timeline significantly.

Find Senior Product Development Manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Thermo Fisher Scientific sponsor H-1B visas for Senior Product Development Managers?
Yes, Thermo Fisher Scientific sponsors H-1B visas for Senior Product Development Managers. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation given its requirement for a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical or scientific field. Sponsorship availability can vary by business unit and location, so confirming with the recruiter during initial screening is the most reliable step.
How do I apply for Senior Product Development Manager jobs at Thermo Fisher Scientific?
Applications go through Thermo Fisher's careers portal, where roles are posted by business unit and location. You can also find and track open Senior Product Development Manager positions that match your visa type on Migrate Mate, which filters listings by sponsorship status. Tailoring your application to the specific product line or division increases your chances of moving to a recruiter screen.
Which visa types does Thermo Fisher Scientific commonly use for Senior Product Development Manager roles?
Thermo Fisher sponsors H-1B visas for most international hires in product development, as well as TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying scientific roles. F-1 OPT and CPT are used for candidates earlier in their career transition. For longer-term pathways, Thermo Fisher supports EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card sponsorship for senior roles.
What qualifications does Thermo Fisher Scientific expect for Senior Product Development Manager roles?
Thermo Fisher typically looks for a bachelor's or master's degree in a life sciences, engineering, or chemistry-related field, combined with hands-on product development experience in regulated environments such as medical devices, diagnostics, or pharmaceutical manufacturing. Familiarity with stage-gate development processes, FDA or CE marking requirements, and cross-functional team leadership is commonly expected at the senior level.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Senior Product Development Manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific?
For H-1B sponsorship, the timeline depends on the USCIS lottery cycle, which opens each April for an October 1 start date, though premium processing can reduce USCIS adjudication to around 15 business days after selection. For employment-based Green Cards, the PERM process through DOL alone typically takes six to eighteen months before an I-140 petition can be filed with USCIS.
