Want to play a key role in how one of the world’s most powerful newsrooms designs and implements solutions that ensure our news gets to the right people at the right time? Well this might be the role for you...
ABOUT THE JOB
Reuters is looking for a Data Scientist to help create artificial intelligence products for Reuters News. As a Data Scientist, you’ll create deep learning, machine learning, and artificial intelligence models using state-of-the-art research and cloud platform solutions, maintaining a special focus on data preparation, testing and evaluation of metric performance.
In this varied role, you’ll work on both news technology projects that will play a crucial role in supporting both our global newsrooms as well as the strategy and execution of Reuters’ news production efforts. As such, you’ll work with a range of stakeholders both within the newsroom and with the wider business to determine the path forward in how Reuters puts stories out into the world, from a technological perspective.

- Assist with evaluating systems, including the use of performance metrics that allow different business units to make great strategic decisions in a technological space.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Data Analytics Engineer Jobs at Thomson Reuters Jobs
Align your portfolio to Thomson Reuters products
Thomson Reuters builds data products for legal research, tax compliance, and financial news. Tailor your portfolio to show pipeline engineering, data modeling, or analytics work in regulated industries. Generic projects carry less weight than domain-adjacent examples.
Target roles within specific product divisions
Thomson Reuters posts Data Analytics Engineer roles across distinct business units. Roles inside the Westlaw, ONESOURCE, or Reuters News intelligence teams often have different technical stacks. Filter by division when browsing openings so your application matches the actual team's tooling.
Flag visa needs early in recruiter conversations
Thomson Reuters has internal immigration counsel and a defined sponsorship process. Raising your H-1B status in the first recruiter screen, not after an offer, lets the team confirm budget and timeline before both sides invest further.
Understand cap-subject versus cap-exempt H-1B timing
If you're not already in H-1B status, your start date depends on the October 1 cap year. USCIS registration opens in March, and Thomson Reuters must file on your behalf. Map your OPT or grace period expiry against this calendar before your offer stage.
Prepare for PERM documentation if targeting a Green Card
For EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, Thomson Reuters must run a DOL PERM labor market test before filing your immigrant petition. Start gathering educational credentials and employment verification letters early so you're not creating delays once the employer initiates the process.
Use Migrate Mate to track active openings
Thomson Reuters posts Data Analytics Engineer roles across multiple locations and business lines. Use Migrate Mate to filter current openings by visa sponsorship eligibility so you're applying to active roles where sponsorship is confirmed, not guessing from a general careers page.

Find Data Analytics Engineer at Thomson Reuters JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Thomson Reuters sponsor H-1B visas for Data Analytics Engineers?
Yes, Thomson Reuters sponsors H-1B visas for Data Analytics Engineer roles. The company has internal immigration resources and works with outside counsel to manage petitions. If you're in OPT or another status requiring cap-subject H-1B sponsorship, confirm timing early with your recruiter because the USCIS filing window and October 1 start date are fixed.
How do I apply for Data Analytics Engineer jobs at Thomson Reuters?
Applications go through Thomson Reuters' careers portal. Search by role title and filter by location since engineering roles are distributed across multiple offices. Tailor your resume to the specific business unit you're targeting, whether that's legal intelligence, tax platforms, or media. Migrate Mate lets you browse current openings filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility before you apply.
Which visa types does Thomson Reuters commonly use for Data Analytics Engineers?
Thomson Reuters primarily uses the H-1B visa for initial work authorization for Data Analytics Engineers. For longer-term sponsorship, the company supports employment-based Green Card pathways through the EB-2 and EB-3 categories, which require a PERM labor certification filed with the DOL before the immigrant petition can proceed.
What qualifications does Thomson Reuters expect for a Data Analytics Engineer role?
Expect requirements around a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, data engineering, statistics, or a related field, plus hands-on experience with cloud data platforms, SQL, Python, and pipeline orchestration tools. Thomson Reuters builds for regulated industries, so familiarity with data governance, audit trails, or compliance-adjacent analytics work strengthens your application above the baseline technical requirements.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take if I receive an offer from Thomson Reuters?
The standard H-1B process runs on a fixed government calendar. USCIS opens registration in March, conducts the lottery, and employers file selected petitions by June for an October 1 start date. If you need status before October 1, discuss whether Thomson Reuters will file with premium processing, which USCIS adjudicates within 15 business days after receipt.
