Well this might be the role for you...
ABOUT THE JOB
Reuters is looking for a Data Scientist to help create artificial intelligence products for Reuters News. As a Data Scientist, you’ll create deep learning, machine learning, and artificial intelligence models using state-of-the-art research and cloud platform solutions, maintaining a special focus on data preparation, testing and evaluation of metric performance.
In this varied role, you’ll work on both news technology projects that will play a crucial role in supporting both our global newsrooms as well as the strategy and execution of Reuters’ news production efforts. As such, you’ll work with a range of stakeholders both within the newsroom and with the wider business to determine the path forward in how Reuters puts stories out into the world, from a technological perspective.

Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
H-1B eligibility requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field. For Data Contributor roles, degrees in data science, information systems, computer science, or a subject-matter field like law or finance strengthen your case considerably.
Target Thomson Reuters roles tied to specific data verticals
Thomson Reuters staffs Data Contributors across legal research, tax, and regulatory content lines. Applying to roles within a defined vertical, rather than general openings, signals domain depth and maps more cleanly to specialty occupation criteria when USCIS reviews the petition.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before accepting an offer
Thomson Reuters is enrolled in E-Verify, which is required for H-1B sponsorship. Verify this during the offer stage so you're not negotiating sponsorship with an employer who lacks the infrastructure to file.
Prepare for a Labor Condition Application wage audit
Before USCIS sees your H-1B petition, your employer files an LCA with DOL certifying your wage meets prevailing levels for the role's location. Research DOL wage data for Data Contributor positions in your target city so you can negotiate an offer above the threshold.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Data Contributor roles at Thomson Reuters
Filtering by visa sponsorship type saves time when you're targeting a specific employer and role. Migrate Mate lets you browse Thomson Reuters openings filtered by sponsorship eligibility, so you focus only on positions where your visa path is confirmed.

Find Data Contributor at Thomson Reuters JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Thomson Reuters sponsor H-1B visas for Data Contributors?
Yes, Thomson Reuters sponsors H-1B visas for Data Contributor roles. The position typically qualifies as a specialty occupation because it requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as data science, information systems, or a domain-specific subject like law or finance. Your employer files the petition with USCIS after obtaining a certified Labor Condition Application from DOL.
How do I apply for Data Contributor jobs at Thomson Reuters?
You can find open Data Contributor positions through Thomson Reuters' careers portal or through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship eligibility. When applying, tailor your resume to the specific data vertical the role covers, whether that's legal, tax, or regulatory content, and be direct about your sponsorship needs in early recruiter conversations to avoid wasted time on both sides.
Which visa types does Thomson Reuters use for Data Contributor roles?
Thomson Reuters most commonly sponsors H-1B visas for nonimmigrant work authorization and EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visas for permanent residence. H-1B is the primary path for initial employment, while EB-2 and EB-3 require PERM labor certification through DOL before USCIS adjudicates the immigrant petition. The right pathway depends on your degree level, the role's requirements, and your long-term immigration goals.
What qualifications are expected for Data Contributor roles at Thomson Reuters?
Thomson Reuters Data Contributor positions generally require a bachelor's degree in a field relevant to the data vertical you'll support, such as computer science, information management, law, or accounting. Strong data structuring, quality review, and domain-specific research skills are consistently emphasized. Roles in the legal or regulatory content lines often prefer candidates with subject-matter credentials alongside technical proficiency.
How do I plan my timeline for H-1B sponsorship at Thomson Reuters?
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March each year for an October 1 start date. If you're selected in the lottery, your employer then has several months to file the full petition. Start conversations with Thomson Reuters recruiters well before the registration window, ideally by January, so the offer and LCA can be in place when registration opens. Premium processing is available and reduces USCIS adjudication to roughly 15 business days.
