Cleans all areas of the facility by performing the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:
- Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner in order to reflect the highest integrity of the Housekeeping Department.
- Performs routine cleaning of patient rooms, patient care units, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, restrooms, offices, and all other areas within UBH campus.
- Performs discharge cleaning according to policy.
- Demonstrates ability to use and maintain cleaning equipment properly.
- Assists visitors with directions whenever requested.
- Introduces self to patients, families, and visitors as appropriate.
- Handles regular and hazardous waste appropriately.
- Cleans and stocks housekeeping carts and closets at end of shift.
- Observes safety and security precautions including reporting safety hazards to supervisors.

- Ensures that appearance and personal conduct are professional at all times.
- Excellent attendance record.
- Wears appropriate clothing for job functions. Wears ID badge.
- Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, administration, and staff.
- Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community.
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
- Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
- Completes all work assignments in a timely manner.
- Attends staff meetings regularly or reads and reports to the manager all staff memos concerning work.
- Actively participates in the department's continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
- Complies with infection control practices by following universal and isolation precautions, and the dress and hygiene code, for short natural fingernails and limiting wearing multiple rings.
- Reports to work on time and as scheduled.
- Uses the computerized punch time system correctly, has minimal missed punches.
- EXTRA EFFORT PERFORMANCE
- Willing to work alternate/rotating shifts as needed.
- Promotes good teamwork by helping co-workers.
- Exhibits a positive attitude; being optimistic, encouraging, and helpful to team members, and avoiding negativity with others.
- Maintains and submits CQI records in a timely manner.
