Align your portfolio to retail platform engineering
Ulta's product engineering work centers on omnichannel platforms, inventory systems, and loyalty tech. Frame your portfolio around scalable retail or e-commerce product builds rather than generic software projects to match what their hiring teams are actively evaluating.
Target product engineering roles tied to core retail systems
Roles connected to checkout infrastructure, inventory platforms, or personalization engines are more likely to move through structured sponsorship pipelines than peripheral tooling roles. Use Migrate Mate to filter Ulta's open Product Engineer listings by function and find sponsorship-eligible postings.
Clarify sponsorship scope during initial recruiter screens
Ulta sponsors both EB-2 and EB-3 green card pathways in addition to OPT and TN. Ask recruiters early whether the specific team has sponsored the full EB pathway, not just F-1 OPT, so you understand the long-term support available for your situation.
Build credentials that support PERM labor certification
For EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, Ulta must complete DOL's PERM process, which requires demonstrating no qualified U.S. workers are available. Having specialized retail platform skills, such as POS integration or retail API architecture, strengthens your position and reduces substitution risk during that review.
Time your TN application around Ulta's product release cycles
TN visa applications for Canadian or Mexican nationals can be filed at the port of entry, which gives you flexibility on start timing. Ulta's product teams often ramp hiring ahead of major retail seasons, so coordinating your TN filing with those windows can accelerate onboarding.

Does Ulta sponsor H-1B visas for Product Engineers?
Ulta's sponsorship activity for Product Engineers has focused on pathways including F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and EB-2 and EB-3 green card categories rather than H-1B. If H-1B sponsorship is a requirement for your situation, raise this directly with the recruiter early in the process, since sponsorship decisions are made at the team level and policies can vary across product engineering groups.
How do I apply for Product Engineer jobs at Ulta?
You can apply through Ulta's careers portal, filtering for product or engineering roles at their Bolingbrook headquarters or remote-eligible positions. Migrate Mate also aggregates Ulta's visa-sponsorship-eligible Product Engineer openings in one place, which is useful if you want to see which specific postings have a sponsorship track record before investing time in an application.
Which visa types does Ulta commonly use for Product Engineer roles?
For Product Engineers, Ulta has sponsored F-1 OPT and F-1 CPT for students and recent graduates, TN status for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering occupations, and EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa categories for longer-term hires. The appropriate pathway depends on your nationality, current status, and where you are in your career, so confirming the available options with your recruiter is essential.
What qualifications does Ulta expect for Product Engineer candidates?
Ulta's product engineering roles typically require a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field. Experience with agile product development, API integration, and retail or e-commerce platform work is frequently referenced in job postings. For PERM-based green card sponsorship, the role's stated degree and experience requirements also form the basis of DOL's prevailing wage and recruitment obligations, so your credentials need to clearly align with the posted requirements.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Product Engineer at Ulta?
Timelines vary by visa type. F-1 OPT authorization takes up to 90 days to process by USCIS, so you should file as early as possible before your program end date. TN status can be obtained at the port of entry in a single day for Canadians. EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship through PERM typically takes one to three years from initial filing to an approved immigrant petition, not accounting for any priority date backlog.
