Frame your experience around retail operations metrics
Ulta prioritizes candidates who can speak to inventory accuracy, store labor efficiency, or omnichannel fulfillment. Quantify your impact in those terms on your resume before applying, even if your background is from outside retail.
Target roles with structured rotational or analyst tracks
Ulta's Business Operations openings frequently include associate and analyst-level tracks that feed into longer sponsorship pipelines. These structured roles are more likely to have PERM sponsorship built into the career progression than senior lateral hires.
Verify OPT STEM extension eligibility before your interview
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your degree qualifies for a 24-month STEM extension. This gives Ulta's HR team a longer runway before committing to H-1B filing, which directly reduces friction during offer negotiations.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Business Operations roles
Ulta posts a high volume of Business Operations positions, and not all are active pipelines for sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for roles where Ulta has a documented history of sponsoring the visa type you need.
Raise sponsorship eligibility before the final offer stage
Retail employers like Ulta often route offers through centralized HR teams unfamiliar with visa timelines. Surface your status early in the process so the recruiting team can loop in their immigration counsel before an offer is drafted.
Understand how TN classification applies to your role
Canadian and Mexican nationals in Business Operations roles may qualify for TN status if the position maps to an eligible TN category. USCIS and CBP evaluate this at the port of entry, so confirm the job description aligns with a qualifying occupation before accepting an offer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Ulta sponsor H-1B visas for Business Operations roles?
Ulta has sponsored employment-based visas for Business Operations positions, though sponsorship decisions are made case by case depending on role level and business need. H-1B visa sponsorship typically requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS guidelines. Analyst and operations management roles at Ulta tend to meet that threshold more reliably than generalist support positions.
How do I apply for Business Operations jobs at Ulta?
Applications go through Ulta's careers portal, where Business Operations roles are listed under corporate or supply chain functions. Before applying, confirm the role aligns with your visa type and sponsorship needs. Migrate Mate surfaces Ulta Business Operations listings filtered by sponsorship history, so you can prioritize openings where Ulta has already sponsored similar roles.
Which visa types does Ulta commonly use for Business Operations positions?
Ulta has used F-1 OPT and CPT for early-career Business Operations roles, making these a practical entry point for recent graduates. For longer-term employment, EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process are the primary pathways. Canadian and Mexican nationals may also be eligible for TN visa status depending on how the role is classified.
What qualifications does Ulta expect for Business Operations candidates?
Ulta typically looks for candidates with a background in business, supply chain, operations management, or a related field. For roles that may lead to H-1B or Green Card sponsorship, a bachelor's degree in a directly relevant discipline is important because USCIS requires a demonstrable link between your degree field and the position's core duties. Retail or CPG operations experience strengthens your profile significantly.
How do I plan my timeline around Ulta's sponsorship and visa filing process?
If you're on F-1 OPT, the H-1B cap filing window opens each April for an October 1 start date, so your offer timeline needs to account for that cycle. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship runs on a separate, longer timeline that can take one to two years or more. Starting the conversation with Ulta's recruiting team well before your work authorization expires gives both sides enough runway to plan.
