Align your background to Google's OKR culture
Google's Business Operations hiring centers on candidates who can operate within its Objectives and Key Results framework. Tailor your resume to show how you've driven cross-functional initiatives, measured outcomes, and influenced decisions through data, not just managed processes.
Secure a specialty occupation determination before negotiating
USCIS requires Business Operations roles to qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B rules. Before you reach offer stage, confirm your job description ties to a specific degree field, like business analytics or finance, not general management, which USCIS often scrutinizes.
Use Migrate Mate to find Google's open Business Operations roles
Google posts Business Operations positions across multiple teams and regions, making it hard to filter for sponsorship-friendly openings. Use Migrate Mate to browse Google's current roles that align with your visa type and function without sifting through irrelevant listings.
Time your application around H-1B cap deadlines
If you need a new H-1B, USCIS registration opens in March for an October 1 start. Google typically files petitions quickly after selection, but you need an offer confirmed well before the registration window to avoid missing a full year.
Get your LCA timing right with your offer timeline
Google's legal team files the Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting your H-1B petition. LCA certification takes up to seven business days. Factor this into your start date negotiation so your paperwork doesn't delay your first day.

Find Business Operations at Google JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Google sponsor H-1B visas for Business Operations?
Yes, Google sponsors H-1B visas for Business Operations roles. The role must qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, meaning your job description needs to require a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a related field. Google's immigration team typically handles the petition process after an offer is extended and accepted.
How do I apply for Business Operations jobs at Google?
Applications go through Google's careers site, where you can filter by job family and location. Business Operations roles at Google are competitive and often require demonstrated experience with cross-functional strategy, operations analytics, or program management. Migrate Mate lets you browse Google's current openings filtered by visa sponsorship type, so you can focus on roles that match your work authorization situation.
Which visa types does Google sponsor for Business Operations roles?
Google sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for Business Operations positions. H-1B is the most common pathway for non-Australian, non-Singaporean nationals. Australian citizens may qualify for the E-3, which has no lottery and a faster processing timeline. H-1B1 applies to Chilean and Singaporean nationals. Eligibility for each depends on your role's job description and degree requirements.
What qualifications does Google expect for Business Operations roles?
Google's Business Operations roles typically require a bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or a related analytical field. Many roles also expect experience with data tools like SQL or Looker, familiarity with OKR-based planning cycles, and demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional projects. MBA credentials are common at mid-to-senior levels but are not always required for associate or specialist roles.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take at Google after an offer?
For H-1B transfers from another employer, your start date can be as soon as USCIS receives the petition. For cap-subject H-1B petitions, you'll wait until October 1 at the earliest. E-3 consular processing from Australia typically takes two to six weeks after your employer secures a certified LCA from the DOL. Google's immigration team coordinates directly with candidates on each step.
